Review - Marked
Marked - Sarah Fine

Sarah Fine's first foray into adult paranormal is a hit. I loved it; a perfect blend of mythology, romance and action with Fine's trademark flair for immediately drawing you into the fierce emotions of her characters. Definitely looking forward to book 2.

edited to add: this book is due to be released in January, but if you have Amazon Prime you can get it free today through their Kindle First program.

Review - Steel's Edge
Steel's Edge - Ilona Andrews

So that's it for The Edge series which make me very sad. I enjoyed Declan and Rose's story, loved Cerise and William's adventure and how could I not fall in love with Kaldar and Richard Mar? It is a real loss that with this series shelved we may never get a full length continuation of both George's and Jack's stories..they were, for me, the most fascinating and interestingly developed characters of the whole bunch and I would have loved to have revisited them 10 or so years down the road.

Review - Bayou Moon
Bayou Moon - Ilona Andrews

So, so good. Another series I kinda let fall by the wayside because the first book didn't knock me off my feet, what was I thinking?! Moral of the story is always read what Ilona Andrews writes, period.

Review - When Gods and Vampires Roamed Miami
When Gods and Vampires Roamed Miami: A Tor.Com Original (The Goddess War) - Kendare Blake

I haven't read the Goddess War series but this might have tempted me to check out the first one. After all, I loved ADIB!

Review - Chaos
Chaos (Guards of the Shadowlands Book 3) - Sarah Fine

I made these comments at The Midnight Garden and I add this caveat: despite being disappointed in the choices Fine made in Chaos this series comes with a big ole RECOMMEND from me. My favorite of the trilogy being Fractured.

I finished Chaos this morning and admit to be being a little disappointed. I felt that just when I thought I was prepared for the ultimate sacrifice with it’s huge emotional payoff, the punch to the gut was wasted by an almost easy out. I wasn’t looking forward to what seemed like a forgone conclusion, but I was READY for it.

This is all not to say that I don’t love this series and think that it does so many great things that we don’t usually see in YA. But I felt like Chaos jumped around too much, we were not allowed to feel any loss long enough before we moved on from the near misses and some relationships skimmed the surface instead of delving in and really making us care. I think that Fractured took the risks that we should have seen more of in Chaos as the story wound to its conclusion and bc it didn’t, the story suffered for it.

But, but…..Malachi!! ❤️❤️❤️
