Pretty Good
California Girls - Susan Mallery

My first book from this author. I expected grocery store cookie cutter romance. It was a library shelf surfing find, I needed something light, it was light with a touch of sadness. The characters were all interesting, will developed and likeable. It didn't follow to obvious road of romance novels, it was an enjoyable surprise. I'll give this author another try,

Hidden Preaching Just Irks Me
Mind Games - Nancy Mehl

3 Stars
Excellent narration
This was a good murder mystery profiler story better than most with a creative back story. I had planned on continuing the series till the last 1/4. All the characters seems to fit well in their rolls and I was not sure who did it till near the end. What threw this down was the "I'm a Christian" "I trust God" "I made an educated choice and believed in God"... There was so much of this all the sudden. Okay I was good with her being a Christian, a few sentences would have been fine. But I felt it turned into an evangelistic read at the end. There was a speech on her why's and how it was truth. The MC had several characters questioning their beliefs. Why ? This didn't fit in with the story, this wasn't a Christian book and it was directed out from the character. I'm not a Christian, but I will read Christian writings and have enjoyed them. I do not like feeling like I was snuck attacked by a hidden Christian read that wasn't marked as one.

A Surprisingly Fun Mystery
Collared (An Andy Carpenter Novel) - David Rosenfelt

I picked it up for the cover alone. I found this while shelf surfing at my library. I read the authors blurb, he has 35 dogs, runs a rescue. My kind of human, I had to give the book a try. It was a fun quick  mystery with realistic drama.

The main character is lawyer who doesn't need to work for a living, he does it because it's the right thing to do. He is married to a PI, has and adopted child and several dogs. His humor is snarky and intelligent. His relationship with his family and coworkers was believable and relevant to the story. I liked the guy, liked his wife, his wacky coworkers and how they went about getting things done.

This was book #16 in this series. Why not start towards the end right ?   I have a lot more books to read in this series, and that is good. I have plans to start from book 1 and slowly work my way through them

Reading progress update: I've read 51%.
Collared (An Andy Carpenter Novel) - David Rosenfelt

I would have never picked this up if I'd known the MC was a lawyer.  I grew up surrounded by lawyers, practically lived in a law firm. You can see where I'm going with this ? Good thing I didn't know because I'm really enjoying his humor.

The Perfect Audiobook Experience
Marina - Carlos Ruiz Zafón

What a fantastic audiobook, the narration was wonderful. The story was gothic suspense horror, not too scary, just right. I look forward to reading more form this author.
