(In our street earlier today -- and yes, it's still snowing. I hope the poor daffs are going to make it ... and there we were, only a few days ago, basking in the early springtime sun and hoping winter was finally over!)
This book is about the many ways kids can try to catch a leprechaun. The children in the book come up with some great and crazy ideas from using a simple box to having a high tech security system. This very entertaining book keeps the students interested in the story and opens up many possibilities for fun projects. I would use this book around St. Patrick's Day and use it to read aloud to the students. One possible activity to do is to make our own leprechaun trap in the classroom.

I really enjoy having read-alouds that go with the theme of a main holiday of the month. This book obviously would be read near St. Patrick's Day. It is a very simple story that could be used to teach about problem and solution. The students could also complete a craft during a St. Patrick's Day celebration.

How to Catch a Leprechaun is a new book about a mischievous leprechaun! This book takes the reader down the road of mischief for the Leprechaun. The book would be so cute to do a read aloud with grades K-4th. There are so many activities and lessons that could go along with this book during the week of St. Patrick's Day. Since the book challenges children to make an invention to stop the Leprechaun, the students could be put into groups to make the invention. Technology could be integrated into this lesson by having the older grades type out their invention, or they could write a narrate their own story about a leprechaun. This book could also be studied with sequencing. Overall, this is such a fun book! I recommend this book for all teachers.
