Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince by J.K. Rowling
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince - J.K. Rowling,Mary GrandPré

This was such a great read, and a sad one too.
I cried near the very end. Such an incredible loss, to the story, to the series.
Yet I find myself again wondering if this is one of my favorites. The twists and turns in this one, as well as Dumbledore finally letting Harry further into the knowledge he has, is what keeps you turning page after page.
I just hope the movie does this one justice. I'm not going to hold my breath though, the book is always better.

TBR Thursday
The Voyage of the Dawn Treader - C.S. Lewis,Pauline Baynes
Daughter of the Forest - Juliet Marillier
Grave Mercy - Robin LaFevers
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince - J.K. Rowling,Mary GrandPré
The Reader - Traci Chee
Staked - Kevin Hearne

I'm still picking away at Fatal Inversion on my coffee breaks and The Mysteries of Udolpho some evenings.

Udolpho and Daughter of the Forest are Halloween Bingo Books.  The rest on are my Planned for 2018 list, fulfilling various book challenges.

Friday nights are for comfort--I plan to spend my Friday evening in my jammies with popcorn on hand and Staked as my "trashy" book for the event.  It may have to substitute for When Darkness Comes, which I had selected for the Deadlands square of my Bingo Card.  Whoever has that one out of the library is now 5 days late in returning it!  Usually when that happens, the book is lost.  Our library has only one copy, so I am less than optimistic.

In the meantime, my favourite used book store is having an anniversary sale--30% off to celebrate 30 years in business.  I'm seriously considering stopping in there this evening on the way home.

Happy reading, friends!

Der Halbblutprinz // The Half-Blood Prince!!!
Harry Potter und der Halbblutprinz - J.K. Rowling

I read this book for the first time ever, back in the day when the books wwere first released, I stopped reading after the 4th book because everything just got to dark for me. Now, these days, I'm in it to (not to win it but to) suffer.

And, oh boy, how much did I suffer throught this book, especially towards the end. Nothing new happened, cause I watched the movies more than once and I knew what was going to happen but the end still was a suckerpunch in the gut.

Still, I truly loved this book. I loved the flashbacks into the life of Voldemort, his whole backstory and everything. I especially loved how it was told and 'showed'. Of course, I would have loved if Dumbledore would've just told everything in the beginning and be done with it BUT that wouldn't have been suspenseful at all. So it totally worked for me.

Other than that, the kids are getting older, so with all the usual drama they deal with, now they also deal with relationship drama. Is it necessary? No! But, I still think it was entertaining and it kinda lightened things up a bit.

I really want to read the last book this year, cause I want to finally be done with the series, just so I can reread it in the illustrated version LOL

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince - J.K. Rowling,Mary GrandPré

Harry Potter is partaking in his sixth year at Hogwarts school. While there, Harry gets help from someone called "The Half-Blood Prince" and tries to figure out who it is. The Half-Blood Prince gives him instructions on how to do all of the potions and even secret things around the school, but will this really be a great idea or will it get Harry in even more trouble?
