Chronicles of a Lincoln Park Fashionista
Chronicles of a Lincoln Park Fashionista - Aven Ellis

Recent college graduate Avery Andrews is ready to begin a new life in the big city. She’s landed an apartment in Chicago’s famed Lincoln Park neighborhood–and has her eye on the cute commodities trader just a floor above.

If Premier Airlines knew about her fear of flying, they never would have hired her to be their marketing assistant—but it’s not like Avery wants a lifelong career. Right now she simply wants a job to pay her bills…and fund a few little shopping excursions, too.

Her new lifestyle comes with a price tag, as Avery is not only faced with paying a ridiculous rent but finds she’s perceived as one of the vacant, husband-hunting fashionistas who live in the area. Avery resents this stereotype—so she doesn’t want a lifelong career, and she loves fashions she can’t afford, but that doesn’t mean she is empty-headed and spoiled, does it?

When an opportunity to participate in a documentary at work arises, Avery finds a two-fold solution to her problems. She’ll earn extra money for it, and the documentary will show her as a serious career woman, enabling her to shed that husband-hunting fashionista label for good.

When the camera is on, Avery attempts to be a motivated professional woman. But when she is challenged by Deacon Ryan, the videographer assigned to cover her story, Avery finds herself wanting things she was never supposed to want—like a lasting career—and Deacon. And Avery might just gain more from the experience than a perfect career image and extra cash to put in her Tory Burch wallet…

Oh man I have been waiting SOOO long for this book. I'm one of Aven's Beta Baes so she has been dangling this book in front of me like a piece of meat for months. Getting me to help with the cover and all the while I just wanted to read the book. (Patience is not one of my strong suits.) Anyway she finally sent it to me and I, quite obviously, bumped it to the top of my TBR pile. While I was reading this I was quite glad I wasn't a beta reader for this book because I think I would have killed Aven. The amount of times I said to myself I'll just get to the end of the chapter and it was left on a cliffhanger so I just HAD to read the next bit would have driven me insane.

Avery made me laugh a lot. She had landed her self a job at Premier Airlines but is petrified of flying, I mean talk about ironic. So her job it's just to pay the bills and buy clothes right? She doesn't care about a career she just wants to find a nice rich man and then look after their future children. The problem is that because of this she's being stereotyped as an empty-headed fashionista.

Then Avery somehow lands herself a role in the documentary about Premier Airlines. So she starts to pretend she actually cares about her work. Her videographer, DDG (Drop Dead Gorgeous) Deke sees through her pretence and really challenges her. He makes her re-evaluate what she want's from life. He makes her see that just because things don't work out how you thought they would or they are 'supposed' to doesn't mean that it's not the better outcome.

Aven has a knack for writing the perfect man. I mean in Connectivity we had William, hmmmm then we had Harrison in Waiting For Prince Harry who didn't love him, and a Aven has a  few WIP men which let me tell you are scorching, I can't wait for you to all read them!!! Deke is of course no exception. With his old t-shirts and his challenging questions how could you not fall for him. Oh and did I mention he is hot..like DDG hot! He's also a little bit damaged. I really felt for him and when he opened up to Avery. I was sitting on my sofa crying, thinking boy this man needs a hug...

The JFK scene really got me. It was so sweet but it also showed everything that Avery had learnt, that you should fight for the things that are important, no matter what it takes.

I honestly can't give this book enough praise and I don't think this review has done it enough justice but I hope you all one click this right now.

Waiting For Prince Harry
Waiting For Prince Harry - Aven Ellis DNF at 23%.
I couldn't take all the insta-love anymore.

I think the more and more book I read the more picky I become. Maybe if I read this book last year I would have finished it, but now it seemed nothing unique after reading so many books with characters falling in love with each other the moment they meet.

Synopsis

Twenty-four-year-old Kylie Reed has always been a rule follower. Organized and cautious to a fault, her dreams for life are often filed away for future use—when she has a house, when she meets her future husband, when she has been at her visual display job at a chic Dallas boutique longer...Kylie always has a reason for living her life in the future, not in the present, and not living her life to the fullest and reaching her dream of becoming a fashion designer.

The only exception to rules, of course, would be running away with Prince Harry—Kylie’s ideal man. A hot, fun ginger boy would be worth breaking all the rules for, of course. And Kylie is sure Harry just needs the right, centering woman to settle him down. But living in Dallas and not knowing Prince Harry make this a non-option.

Or does it?

Because when Kylie accidentally falls into the lap of a gorgeous ginger boy—yes, even more gorgeous than the real Prince Harry—all bets are off. Could this stranger be the one to show Kylie how to take a chance, to face her fears, and live in the present? And could this stranger be the Prince Harry she has been waiting for? Kylie’s life takes some unexpected twists and turns thanks to this chance encounter, and she knows her life will never be the same because of it...

Review

Damn how I love Aven Ellis – I was able to get close to this sweetheart of an author after reading her book “Connectivity” ---- first I have to say how much I loved the references to that in this book!

This book was ADORABLE – CUTE and so freaking enjoyable!! I loved how Kylie stuck to her guns about meeting a Prince Harry “look alike” Their whirlwind romance was to die for….how fast their relationship came to fruition from “friends” to lovers to soul-mates was a dream come true.

Ms. Ellis has the ability to transform a simple story into a fairytale of wonders and beauty.  This is what I got out of “Waiting for Prince Harry” – this was every girls fairytale growing up…meeting her handsome prince who sweeps her off her feet to wine and dine her and is just perfect in every way imaginable!  *swoon

There’s just a few little problems that Kylie has to overcome though….she must stand up for herself and stop running from confrontation…..and she must learn to deal with Harry’s career and the public light it puts her smack dab in the middle of.

Final notes – give me anything from Ms. Ellis to read and I’m in heaven!! A nice break of happiness after reading so much angst and horror. *hugs

Waiting For Prince Harry
Waiting For Prince Harry - Aven Ellis OMG OMG OMG. The day is finally here. I cannot tell you how excited I am. Happy Pub day Aven!! I urge you all to go an buy this book right this second. I really do not think this review will do the book justice but I’m going to attempt to.

Kylie is cute and funny. She is also sweet and kind. She is scared of confrontation and failure which sometimes leads to her missing out on opportunities. She thinks that Prince Harry is perfect because she knows she will never get him. He’s almost 5,000 miles away and well he’s a prince. He’s not exactly going to just bump into him.

Harrison. Oh Harrison. I think hockey might become my new favourite sport. He is sweet, kind caring. He really cares about his fans and making sure that when they get that once in a lifetime opportunity to meet him that its everything they ever hoped for. He is always helping other people. Harrison is also a lot cleverer than he thinks he is.

I can’t describe how much I love this book. It has changed my opinion on many things hockey, pool tables…..

I absolutely loved the quizzes at the beginning of each chapter. It Brough a uniqueness to the book.

I couldn’t put this book down. I read it in a matter of hours. I was smiling so much as I finished the last few pages I couldn’t have been happier with the ending of this book. I really hope Aven will provide us with bonus scenes on her blog.
