Endurance: My Year in Space, a Lifetime of Discovery - Scott Kelly

I liked this book a lot! It was very interesting and held my interest throughout. Scott Kelly is a very funny guy and I liked how put that into the book. I learned a lot about the space industry. Most of it, I didn’t know. I certainly didn’t realize that there are still astronauts and that we are using Russia’s facilities.

I now a little secret about dill, as well. Ha!!

I think it’s great that we are cooperating with Russia in order to learn more about space and the secrets it holds. So many different things that I learned about were very extraordinary.

A really good book that I enjoyed very much. Thanks to Bookish for providing me with a free copy of the book (a hard copy) in order for me to review.

Year One
Year One - Nora Roberts

Holy cow...I really enjoyed this. It was a total departure from what I'm used to from Nora Roberts (the In Death books included), but yet still felt like a Nora Roberts book.

When the world is hit with a fast acting virus, nearly 80% of the world's population is eradicated. The other 20% are immune. Those who are left have to pick up the pieces and begin again. Among those survivors are those who have magical abilities, the Uncanny. The story follows several groups of survivors--magical and non magical--who eventually manage to merge into one group.

The book is engrossing, fast paced, and despite having a rather large cast of characters, manages to give each one enough page time that you (or me at least) can't help but care and root for them.

I will caution, though, don't get too attached. Characters do die in this one.

I borrowed this from the library, but will be getting my own copy to have for my home library.

Royal Blood by Tiamat
Royal Blood - Tiamat

The rating will most likely depend on whether you read this story as a stand alone or withing the series. As a part of the series, it might easily fetch 5 stars.

The book starts in a humorous fairy tale fashion, pulling you right in: the characters are somewhat familiar, the setting is typical, the story is easy to follow. You know this set-up, you move along, quite sure of yourself and the boys in the tale.

However, just as you begin to think "oh, I know where it's going!", the unusual (especially where the puzzled Prince is concerned) turn of events shifts the story line and you find yourself as puzzled as the Prince himself. Series of hot, steamy and very passionate almost - but not quite! - dub-con scenes follow, with still enough plot and humor to go around.

In the end, all parties get what they deserve and want.

No kittens, tigers or babies were actually hurt (much) during the production of this book :D

Recommended :)

My Fair Captain (Sci-Regency #1) by J.L. Langley
My Fair Captain (Sci-Regency #1) - J.L. Langley

Not as good as the first time around, maybe 3.5 stars.

Insane amount of characters with nick-names, titles and birth-names drove me almost to the mad house this time. How did I keep up in the first place, I have no idea - this is clearly some kind of name porn read. Chadwick, Coldwell, Cony, Jeremy, Jensen, Benson, Braxton.... what the hell happened to all the other letter in the alphabet? Why so many of them have to start with the same letter?

In contrast, Nate calling Aiden "boy" in the second part drove me crazy, too. It's your spouse, you moron! And a prince! Show some respect! :/ Arghhh!

On sci-fi side... why not install GPS on your lift/car or a tracker app on your tablet?

There are inconsistencies and holes in the story, but - whatevers, it was still a fun read :)
