That's a good point. I'm embarrassed to say that I hadn't thought of that. I agree about Roland. Thank god Peter was so much influenced by his mother. Otherwise, there would be no hope for either child.

I know. What was that about smelling the napkins? I'm sure the storyteller will explain at one point. I actually enjoy listening to him (I'm listening to the audiobook).

If he would have smelled the napkins, he could have taken more strands of the napkins (because no one uses them). (hide spoiler) Hence he could have fashioned his rope a lot faster.(show spoiler)

At least that is how I understand it. This book certainly has some ludicrous ideas :).
