That would be fascinating, but I am not sure Attenborough could deliver Humboldt's sense of manic obsessiveness that I got from the book. ;)
My dentist plays Attenborough shows to his patients when they're in the chair, so I'm guessing he'd definitely struggle to portray Humboldt's energy accurately.
It doesn't have to be a Hollywood production; I bet the BBC could put something together that would do justice to both the book and the man (and we could still have Cumberbatch for Humboldt, ::grin::). The BBC kicks tail with mini-series.
