Hi everyone! Tell us a little about yourself and what you're working on this year (if you know yet). I'm Clio Reads, this is my 4th NaNo, but I'm not sure how it's going to go because I have a full time job and a new baby and I get very, very little sleep. I'm planning to write a contemporary romance that I hope will deal with despised tropes (secret baby, infidelity) in a funny, tongue-in-cheek kind of way. What about you?
I'm Angie. I have no idea what I'm doing yet. I used to write a lot, years ago, until I got pregnant the first time and had massive headaches. And then I had a child. The oldest is five now, and I still haven't managed to get back into the habit. I'm probably going to write something based on one of my D&D games, just to get myself writing, and to practice making the obvious D&D aspects less obvious.
I'm Kara, I'm 21 and I'm finishing my last semester of my undergraduate degree. This is my first NaNo, but I've wanted to do it for the longest time and I've never found time. This year, even though I have less time than ever, I've decided that if I'm constantly waiting for the perfect time, it's never going to happen, so I'm going to attempt to participate! I'm going to be working on a story that has been stuck in my head for the past 5 years, but I've never been able to actually write. Hopefully, this time is successful!
Welcome Angie and Kara. That's the beauty of NaNoWriMo: what you write doesn't have to be publication ready or even *good*-- the point is to get writing and get the ideas out of your head and onto the page. (Granted, this is MUCH easier said than done.)
Jeanne here. This is also my 4th NaNo, and I've yet to complete it, but I'm not giving up. This year I'm working on a contemporary, BDSM erotic romance, featuring a wealthy, white male submissive and a biracial, female martial arts fighter who he attempts to seduce into being his dominant. I've got an outline, and lost of ideas. Now, if I can just write the mother.
I'm a stay-at-home mom, but that doesn't mean my life isn't hectic as hell. I'm constantly struggling to find a good time and quiet place to write. Sometimes I end up having to stay up late, when everyone else in the house is asleep to finally get into the right mindset to write.
Here's a post from Galleycat with links to two years worth of helpful tips, tricks and tools people use to get through NaNo. http://www.mediabistro.com/galleycat/nanowrimo-writing-tips-in-a-single-post_b60041
Nice to meet you guys. Good luck!
Hello all, I've been doing Nano on and off since 2005. I've completed it three times. The key, I've found, is to aim for 2,000 words every day, that way I build up extra word counts for the days I just don't write as much. Also, when I'm stuck, I start writing stream of consciousness stuff, that usually gets me unstuck. No outline this year, I usually don't use them.
Hi, first NANO timer here. I want to get into creative writing and explore the stories in my head. I am a stay-at-home mom of 2 (8.5 month old and 2.5 year old) and wife, university student, and military vet (retired due to disability). I hope to have a completed novella by the end of the month. My goal is small so that I can concentrate on plotting and pacing; my strengths, as they stand now, is world-building and characterization - to the point that my work never gets out of the gate. I don't have any particular genre in mind, but I do want some strong romantic elements in my work.
Hello and welcome Jeanne, Gloria, and Mistletoe. Thanks for the Galleycat tips post, and yes, I know you stay-at-home moms have hella hectic lives. I'm home alone with my boys (7 mos. and 3 years) on Fridays while my wife is working, and Friday is always the longest, hardest, busiest day of my week. Good luck finding time and energy to write!
Hi everyone! I'm Stefani. This year will be my 7th Nano and hoping for a 7th win. Right now I have a vague idea about a soothsayer and Poe's raven...it will be a sequel to the first Nano story I did and it's all very vague right now but starting to come together slowly.
Hello! This is my 3rd Nano. I'll be working on a fantasy novel and hoping to be a winner this year. Ive never been an outliner, but I've been compiling a list of all the most important plot points before I start. Looking forward to giving some encouragement throughout the month! :D
I'm working on a near science fiction, but it's map is huge. Its turning more into an epic fantasy thing.O_o (Maybe its because I know how long it takes to travel in a day.) I'm recycling the premise from a short story I recently finished.

Finally decided what I'm going to write. Time-travel is invented, just in time to save humanity from running out of food and resources. To avoid looting humanity's past, however, only eras in which humans don't exist are allowed to be developed. Yes, you know what that means... dinosaur-ranching! oooh yeah I'm going to open a dino-ranch somewhere in the Jurassic and domesticate me some sauropods and allosaurs. Want to eat a stegasaur steak? I got you covered. Inspired by the Tate Geological Museum's logo.
Gah, can't post pictures here yet!

Hello Issa, Gloria, Sarah, and Rebecca. Now we can put images and other fancy formatting in our comments: must be Thursday at Booklikes! Good luck tomorrow everyone (or tonight, if you're staying up to start writing at midnight)!
This will be my second NaNoWriMo, and I have in mind a SciFi novel with clones. I haven't gotten far with any planning (I tried!), but I discovered last year that if I just kept typing and making things happen it was exhilarating fun--even if my story is pleasing only to me--and I'm hoping that happens again this year.
