Bleh. This series has pretty covers, an interesting concept, one character that is amazing, and this book takes away all of that and leaves us with slush. Not worth the time to read the series. My blog will have a series of posts where I escalate my rants with this book. The first (which is technically the last due to BL being weird with having me repost some updates) is a plea asking people for better recs for myth retellings.
Some moments of touching immediacy here and there, but by and large, several sizes too clever and petentious for its own good, and proof yet again that the modern literary establishment's darlings just aren't for me.
