Yeah it's a book series where there are trained magicians i guess who can pull things from books. And he pulled the ability to slow time so he was moving normal speed and everyone else was moving super slow. It was an interesting scene, because he couldnt move too fast or his body would just crumble...

Codex Born by Jim C Hines This one has a flashback story journal thing that starts each chapter. Plus there is a scene where the main character literally moves quickly through time.

The Cuckoo's Calling by Robert Galbraith aka JK Rowling This brought me out of my reading slump, so it goes under blew me away. I also liked it way more than i thought I would and want to read the next in the series.

When the Marquess Met HIs Match by Laura Lee Guhrke I don't remember much about this one, except that I liked it. So that's saying something. Good in the moment but ultimately forgettable.

Back Across the Styx by Karalynn Lee Takes place in Hades and on Earth. Not a horrid novella, but very predictable and somewhat plodding. But I finished it so that's good. If it was too bad I would have just said no and stopped reading.
