This has been one of my comfort reads ever since I was a child - one of those books that always makes me laugh and cheers me up. It's the story of three friends (and their dog) taking a boating trip up the River Thames in the late Victorian (or maybe Edwardian, not sure) era, describing their misadv...

A real sparkling little book. Almost laugh out loud funny in places while still being very believable. Surely the original in the road trip genre, even if the road's a river.

The ridiculously short review - Three hypochondriacs - JKJ, George and Harris - (and their dog, Montmorency) decide to go on a boating holiday on the Thames in order to recuperate from all the maladies in the world that, they firmly decide, have manifested in them. Hilarity ensues. The "slightly" lon...

This isn't really about three men in a boat, it is about Jerome being funny.

Then again, what were we to make of these dig...

3.5 stars. Three Men in a Boat (Not to Mention the Dog) was written in 1889 by Jerome K. Jerome. It's the story of three friends (and a dog) who decide to spend their holiday boating on the Thames. I really enjoyed much of the writing, which reminded me of a somewhat less madcap Wodehouse situation....

Ah, I enjoyed this very much, helped I think by the very fine reading by Ian Carmichael, who had just the sort of well enunciated, deadpan voice one could imagine the story might be delivered in. I particularly enjoyed the rambling, stream-of-consciousness style of the narrative, the silly anecdotes...

What a huge moron I was for not giving this book a chance. And now, I just can’t stop praising it. So here it goes…‘Three Men in a Boat’ is an amusing account of three friends-Jerome(whom I’m in love with),Harris and George and of course their dog Montmorency; while on a little boating expedition. T...

Since this book was an influence on Connie Willis' fabulous and funny novel, I figured I should read it and see what she was getting at.It's a short, comic Victorian novel. The humor is based on the fact that none of the events of the book are of any importance whatsoever, but that the narrator make...
