LEAD ME NOT by Ann Gallagher
Lead Me Not - Ann Gallagher

Isaac Morris has been a leader of protests against the LGBTQ+ community with his family and church. At one protest a man comes up to him and challenges him to choose to be gay then go back to straight. He declines but, upon thinking about it and with his twin sister's nudging, he decides to make a documentary about choosing to become gay then choosing to go back to the straight lifestyle. His brother John thinks he should do to help John's son who John is afraid is going to choose the gay lifestyle. Isaac and Ruth, his twin, move to Seattle to set up the filming and the experiment. Isaac gets into trouble at a gay bar. He meets Colton there and asks Colton to help him navigate the gay lifestyle. While Colton helps him, both are attracted to each other but don't act on it. Colton has secrets in his past. Isaac has secrets in his present. Colton also invites Isaac to his gay-friendly church. Isaac goes and meets Pastor Mike, Colton's mentor and friend. Isaac hears a different interpretation of the scriptures he has used in the past to condemn the LGBTQ+ lifestyle. He stops and thinks about it. What will Isaac discover? Will the documentary come out? Will Isaac's ideas on the gay community change?

This was an intense read but so good! I liked how the scriptures are used and the different interpretations given within the book. Some good points are made. Both sides of the debate are represented.

I liked Isaac and Colton. They are good together. They move slowly into a relationship. When the documentary blows up everything, I could feel the pain of both men. I liked that Isaac decided to go ahead with the documentary. I also liked he had the support of Ruth. I liked that they also reached out to siblings who left their church and family. I liked Abby, his older sister. She had wise words for him. I was glad he listened.

I highly recommend this book. It is worth your while to read it.

Review: Cinderella Is Dead
Cinderella is Dead - Kalynn Bayron

This was an amazing book that in the year 2022 hit a little two close to home.  The people of Lille have been subject to to whims of a power-hungry tyrant for over two centuries, with women and girls bearing the brunt of his madness.  Cinderella is dead, and it turns out the story everyone has been told about her is a lie.

This was a beautiful retelling.  So original and thought provoking (considering today's current atmosphere.)  I was completely caught up in the tale.  The characters, even with a few annoying habits, were so likeable.  I was right there in it, fighting with them.  It was well thought out and wonderfully written.   I read along with the ebook, while listening to the audiobook and as usual, Bahni Turpin knocked it out of the park!  She captured the emition of the characters and did amazing distinguishing them with different voices.  This was a 10-out-of-10 would/will read again.

Aristotle and Dane Dive Into the Waters of the World - Benjamin Alire Saenz

A million thank you's for the win of this book! I couldn't wait to get a copy, since I loved the first book so much, and it didn't disappoint!
I was taken immediately back into Aristotle and Dante's world. It's the 80's, they are in love and gay. It wasn't accepted then. The torment, mostly from the inside, was heartbreaking at times. I rooted for them both every step of the way!
I laughed at times, and I even cried twice. Books that can bring those emotions out in me, you know they are fantastic! The writing is devourable! That is exactly what I did. Flew through this chunker in record timing, and that is credited to the author.
I so want more. I don't ever want to stop reading about Aristotle and Dante. I hope we get to see them write their names on the map of the city of love!

Cemetery Boys - Aiden Thomas
I've been wanting to read this since I saw it come out and am glad I finally got to. I really enjoyed this story, and frankly, didn't have any idea anything about the Brujx before.
I loved the ghost story romance. Well done!! I didn't see it coming and then it was all I wanted.
The magical elements in this story appeal to me. I like wiccan and voodoo stories and felt this was much of the same, just a different culture, but it still felt relatable.
I definitely want to read more about Yadriel and his people. I was so invested in those parts of the story.

Impossible
Relay (Changing Lanes Book 1) - Layla Reyne

Dane is afraid to be himself.  It's costing him everything he wants, and, its killing him slowly.  Can he reach out and grab the stars?  Alex is the one that got away. What would happen if he held on tight?

Alex will do what it takes for his team to grab the gold.  The pain is second nature at this point. Then he has to work with Dane again, and the sparks between them ignite.  The plan is to stay away. But his heart is whispering to move closer......

This story caught me by surprise.  There is so much actual story for both characters.  I was sucked in so fast.  Then I could not put it down until it was over.  Each page was so good, and I could not help myself.  I give this a 3/5 Kitty's Paws UP!
