READ AND REVIEW

FEARLESS BY SHAE ROSS

Release Date:  August 17, 2015

SYNOPSIS

Every fighter has a weakness...

Devi Dalton won't let anyone hold her back. With the help of her friends, she's taken control of her future and traded her messed-up family life for a new job in Manhattan. Her only obstacle? Ben Winslow, the sexy friend she's desperately trying to resist. If she's going to succeed, she can't afford to be distracted, no matter how hot the chemistry burns between them.

Cage fighter Ben spent six months trying to convince Devi to take a chance on a relationship. Now that they've reunited in New York, he's not letting her push him away again. They're more than friends-always have been-and he'll do whatever it takes to prove it to her. First, he has a few demons of his own to slay...one of which could ruin his chances with her for forever.

But every fighter has a weakness. Ben's is Devi. And this time, she'll need more than just her favorite "Fearless Red" lipstick to protect her heart if she lets him in...

REVIEW:  FEARLESS BY SHAE ROSS

Fearless (Entangled Embrace)Fearless by Shae Ross

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

New adult is a different genre for me. I have not read many books in that area. Shae Ross is a new author to me as well. Not really any difference between this and the romance novels that I am used to. With Fearless, Shae Ross has created two characters that have layers of emotional baggage to work through. Devi is determined to succeed and prove she can take her of herself. Ben is equally focused on proving that he can be the hero Devi needs in her life. Fueled with heartbreak and obstacles to face failure is not an option. I received an ARC copy of Fearless in exchange for an honest review. Despite a slow start I found this story to be a well-crafted story.

Pretty Smart Girls
Pretty Smart Girls - Shae Ross The story is about two teams, one competition. Ryan and her friends have entered into a corporate competition which will earn them much needed money and also a contract with the firm hosting it. Three girls really need to win this competition. They are all brilliant and more than deserve this chance.
Jett and his friends have also entered into the competition. All three guys come from rich families and apparently do not need to win this competition. At least that is what the girls thought when they first met them. Similarly guys also made some presumptions about their rivals. Things started badly and then the rivalary between both teams kept increasing especially because Ryan and Jett were taking things pretty personally.
Both were attracted to each other as well. It was very difficult for them to not act upon this attraction. There are some LOL moments in the book and some very irritating scenes between Ryan and Jett. Sometimes both acted like children rather than grown people. But all in all it was an interesting read. i will recommend it to all romance lovers, especially people who love romance between nemesis/rivals.
P.S. thanks to the publisher for complementary copy.

Review of "Smart vs. Pretty" by Valerie Frankel (DNF at 20%)
Smart Vs. Pretty - Valerie Frankel

Nope. This one is not for me. I tried and it's not a "quality" issue (meaning horrid writing, lousy with typos and errors, bad ebook format stuff).  But not connecting to characters and finding the story so far uninteresting (and not very believable).  Tried hard since was a buddy read but 20% was pushing it.

Honestly, who hires an employee by yanking down the back of his pants? Or lets strangers re-do their business with vague "pay me later when successful" lines instead of asking "how much will it cost me?"

I cannot bring myself to care what happens later in book.  Ne sister is a flake (who makes everyone else wear uniforms while she shows off in boob-highlighting outfits) and the other is passive, depressing and wishywashy...
