To start with, Derrick (Bear) was an infuriatingly well written, confused, gay-for-you protagonist that had me weeping at his situation. He was pretty much lost, perpetually lost, but never alone. After being charged with the care of his younger brother, Tyson (The Kid), Bear turned out to be all he...

I really tried to like this book, but I failed. Apart from the many analogies with the movie Shelter, the boring inner monologue, the annoying POV, the evil Mom and the smartest Kid in the world (really??) made me nearly mark this as a DNF.

As if my heart would let me give this book anything less than five stars. Hands down one of the best books that I have read all year (and quite possibly EVER).

You laugh, but it's because so much of the other things make you want to cry. Bear and Kid are amazing. Bear handles things MOST adults do a half-assed job at and ...

Oh wow - reading this book was an emotional roller-coaster. T. J. Klune had my heart thudding, my hands clenched in hope and tears before I was even halfway through. More than anything did I want Bear and Otter to get their HEA. The writing isn't perfect in that it breaks 'rules' (try writing a nove...
