Didn't feel there was anything spectacular going on with this story, but reminded myself it was the beginning of worldbuilding, etc., so I stuck with it. There are a ton of unanswered questions that I'm hoping will start to get answered in the next segment.
This is the book that got me into urban fantasy. Before that, I had only read epic fantasy, and I had no clue there were so much more kinds of fantasy there, just waiting for me to discover them. Rachel is an IS (Inderland Security) runner, but lately things aren't really working out for her. She h...
Slow starterThis is the first book in The Hollows series. I had been pre-warned by several different people that it was a slow-starter, but that the series gets better and better. Well, they weren't kidding! If it wasn't for my faith that it would, in fact, get better, I may not have got through the...
Kim Harrison has constructed a rich, complex world for her Hollows series. And Rachel Morgan is a character who is easy to love. Generally, I liked this. But it was really hard for me to get through. Harrison spent so much of the book world building that I think it took away from the characters and the story. But it was good enough that I want to check out the second book, as I've heard from several people that this the typic...

I had a little trouble keeping up with the story in the beginning, there was a lot going on and was a little confusing at times but it picked up in the first few chapters and I really enjoyed it. Rachel Morgan is one tough cookie, even for a witch! Facing death threats left and ri...

I had a little trouble getting through the first few chapters, otherwise I would have given 4 stars. The beginning is a little slow but after that it's funny and action-packed. Had trouble putting the book down because I wanted to know how it ended. So definitely worth it.
