Adaption Review: The Bad Beginning

Title: The Bad Beginning

Release Date: January 13, 2017

Starring: Neil Patrick Harris, Patrick Warburton, Joan Cusack, Malina Weissman, Louis Hynes

Original Author: Lemony Snicket, Daniel Handler

Pros: - for the most part it's word for word to the book

         - the author was on the team of writers so you can't really argue with the creator of this universe

Cons: - they kept the spyglass angle from the movie and I don't get it still

Episode Review: A Series of Unfortunate Events 1x02: The Bad Beginning: Part Two

Title: The Bad Beginning: Part Two

Release Date: January 13, 2017

Starring: Neil Patrick Harris, Patrick Warburton, Malina Weissman, Louis Hynes

Guest starring: Joan Cusack

Length: 1h 4min

Favourite character: Klaus

Crush: N/A

Least favourite character: Count Olaf

Mini-review: Good conclusion to this story arc. I feel, though, like the audience members should've been more concerned about the fact that the "bride" was played by a 14 year. Other than that I enjoyed this episode. This show has the same kind of vibe as The Princess Bride, borderline parody.

Mini-review: I liked this episode. It was good. It was well-ended, with a good cliff-hanger to pull you into the next episode, as a two part episode should. I can't wait to rewatch the rest of the series.

Review: The Bad Beginning by Lemony Snicket
The Bad Beginning - Lemony Snicket

Title: The Bad Beginning

Author: Lemony Snicket

Series: A Series of Unfortunate Events, 1

Format: ebook

Length: 123 pages

Rating: 3 stars

Synopsis: Dear Reader,
I'm sorry to say that the book you are holding in your hands is extremely unpleasant. It tells an unhappy tale about three very unlucky children. Even though they are charming and clever, the Baudelaire siblings lead lives filled with misery and woe. From the very first page of this book when the children are at the beach and receive terrible news, continuing on through the entire story, disaster lurks at their heels. One might say they are magnets for misfortune.
In this short book alone, the three youngsters encounter a greedy and repulsive villain, itchy clothing, a disastrous fire, a plot to steal their fortune, and cold porridge for breakfast.
It is my sad duty to write down these unpleasant tales, but there is nothing stopping you from putting this book down at once and reading something happy, if you prefer that sort of thing.
With all due respect,
Lemony Snicket

Favourite character: Klaus

Least favourite character: Count Olaf

Mini-review: After watching the show, I forgot how short the first few books are. That being said, I love this series. And I would like to thank Netflix for this series the adaption it deserves.

I love books where the kids are smarter than the adults and this series definitely falls into that category. I have so many questions about this series that I'm sure I will discuss at some point.

Reading progress update: I've read 77 out of 123 pages.
The Bad Beginning - Lemony Snicket

Dumb question maybe but what didn't the Baudelaire's just run away?
