It's Mary Calmes it's narrated by one of two people who I absolutely adore hearing read a Mary Calmes book and that's Tristan James. I've recently listened to a few Mary Calmes stories that were narrated by someone other than Tristan James or Greg Tremblay and don't get me wrong they were ok. But, when it comes to Ms Calmes books no one does a better job than of it for me than either Tristan James or Greg Tremblay.

 

The Marshals are my favorite Mary Calmes series...sorry, Sam, Jory...you are a close second but Miro and Ian just work for me. So I started with a 5 star read and added a favorite narrator and came up with a 5 star audio book that left me very happy and already plotting when I'll listen to this one again. That's it what more can I say. I loved it and I think we're done here now. Have a good summer everyone and I'm back to my vacation. 

This was a very enjoyable read.

I liked the beginning very much- liked the story and the characters.

The slow burn and the sexual tension.

 

Up until 50/60%.

 

Then it went into sappy fantasy land with lightning speed.

And besides the ultra-fast 0 to 100 in the relationship realm, the reality started to fade out as well. Suddenly everyone was super accepting with gays in general and in law enforcement. The side characters turned out bi or gay to at least 50%.

 

This threw me out of the story and the over the top love talk as well.

 

It somehow clashed horribly with the tough Green Beret character.

 

So I deduct 2 stars for the last third.

I am not sure I will check out the second installment...

This book is still awesome, still hawt, still funny and I still LOVE Miro and Ian. This is totally going to be a go to 'happy place' book.

One thing that still annoys the heart and soul out of me though, and makes me want to smack a bitch, is Aruna not wanting to return Chickie Baby!!

LOVED IT!!

Miro and Ian are just awesome and I after scouring the internet (i.e. having a look on Mary Calmes website) I've discovered that this looks to be a series. No indication as yet about when the next book is out or what it will be about but I am hoping HARD that it will be soon and will be a continuation of Miro and Ian.

This is a lovely and funny and HAWT 'friends to lovers' story, it has the awesomeness of growly alpha's and the ridiculous story line that I'm coming to love from Mary Calmes. There are a lot of secondary characters (I couldn't keep Miro's girlfriends straight, I've no idea who was who or who met who first) but since it seems to be the start of a series I guess there is time for it to be made clearer, still, there are a lot of people to keep track of.

Miro and Ian though? New lickable males alert!!

My biggest issue in this book is the uncertainty surrounding what's going to happen with Chickie. For that alone there better be another book or I will be very unhappy.

MEH. I love Jin and Logan, and I hoped to find their equals in this book. Not even close. There were many boring parts, mostly about shootings and stuff. Nice to see them on screen, on a movie, but I guess is not my thing when I have to read them. Since Miro (Miroslav) and Ian are Marshals, I was pretty much screwed from the beginning, I just did not know.

Also there are a lot of characters. I had no idea who was who, I just kept reading. Many officers, many criminals, etc, etc. In the middle of the book, when Ian goes on a mission, out of nowhere we are introduced to a group of girls, friends to Miro. Big yawn. They all acted like they were teenagers (annoying, meddlesome, and supposedly awesome friends ) teenagers. I still cannot remember who was who, I pretty much had a single annoying woman times 4. Or was it 3?

Miro, the MC, is more or less the perfect man. Aha, yeah, another Gary Stu. Super handsome, good officer, sex adviser, best friend, etc. Ian's girlfriend loves him. Ian's father loves him. Ian's dog loves him. Etc, etc. Everybody wants to f**k him (criminals, colleagues, etc). Because, oh yeah, I forgot to add that everyone is gay. EVERYONE. Officers, criminals, victims, etc. Which is one of my pet peeve, btw.

Not even the friends-turn-to-lovers could save this book. Half of the book was mostly ok-ish, with a certain sexual tension... on Miro's side. On Ian's side it was more: **riiiing, riiiing, hello, where are you? who are you with? did you get hurt?** I mean, I love the possessiveness of a handsome man over his love one as much as anyone, but this was ridiculous. Ian was constantly wanting Miro by his side, wanting to know where he was and what he was doing, while he had his girlfriend by his side! What a jerk, he was a total ass towards his nice girlfriend. But wait, of course she couldn't be THAT nice. She was a cheater. Go figure. Both of them are constantly in danger, since they are both marshals, but it was like Ian was all the time worried about Miro getting shot, which was understandable but he was almost always angry that Miro had to chase the bad guy/shot the bad guys/go in the middle of a dangerous situation, etc. Why not quit that profession and find another safer one?

Then, after Ian comes back from his mission, it was like I missed some pages or so. They there are, in the airport, happy to see each other again. The next minute, they are trying to keep their hands from each other and avoiding glances and trying to be less obvious. Then, Miro is all "how could I have never seen it before?" Then he is groping Ian and giving him a bj. Huh?

This book is like 3 in 1: the first one is until Ian goes on a mission (it would have been an OK book); the 2nd part is where a hundred of characters are introduced and I was starting to lose my patience (it would have been a boring book), and the 3rd one is after Ian comes back (it would have been a predictable, cheesy book). I honestly don't understand why the first criminal was introduced, the one that wants to f**ck Miro and have him visiting at the prison. I don't understand why the boring besties girls were introduced, they annoyed the hell out of me. Why adding extras and extras of characters? And no, I have not read other books besides the "Change of hearts" series, so I don't know any of these characters.

Of course, once they are lovers, Ian has to go and turn into a insecure little guy **eye-roll**

I dreamed I skimmed over pages the first day I started reading it. Never happened to me before, dreaming to skim over pages. And I wasn't even on the middle of it. I guess it was a premonition that I wouldn't like it (and no, I did not skim over).

I liked this one. It was very dynamic from the start.

 

I loved that it actually has a plot and action, drama, strong characters and healthy friendships.

 

What I do have a problem with is that one of the main characters, and love interest, is gone for at least 1/3 of the book and as soon as he comes back he's full on a committed relationship with the love interest that stayyed. I wish the "get together" part had been a bit more slow paced.

 

It is still enjoyable though I did liked it. And we also have Sam Kage in this one, i loved to read about him again, even if he's not a main character.
