A special thank you to Dr. Annika Sörensen, author and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Dr. Annika Sörensen returns after her first book Take Stress from Chaos to Calm, which I thoroughly enjoyed, with My De-Stress Diary with 52 fun and easy de-stress tips to implement into your life.

We all experience stress and this small book can help change your life, and help you meet your goals and keep you on the path of feeling good with one de-stress tip a week, for your weekly food for thought.

Rather than sitting down and reading this book in one reading, would suggest breaking it down with the one tip, to reflect and think about how the tip can relate to your own personal life. We all view things differently and apply them to our own individual lives.

If you are reading on an e-reader would suggest making notes and bookmarking pages as you go along, as you make your own individual action plan. As the book notes, when you make changes in one area, may result in changes in other areas.

I, for one am the worst at stress, as tend to be a perfectionist and workaholic, working around the clock, so always looking for ways to de-stress. I enjoyed Week Four, Reserve ME time, as our brains need to rest. By doing so, our brain will be more effective and you will get more done in less time and you will feel better. When we are stressed our blood is full of stress hormones and we are in chaos.

As an added bonus tip for Week 53, Garden therapy, which is very calming, as always have been a fan of solace and peace around God’s nature, especially a walk in the woods or overlooking a waterfall perhaps: Stress reducing works in two ways: by presence in nature and by moving your muscles which eats stress hormones

We are all responsible for our own changes in our lives, step by step. I would highly recommend Take Stress from Chaos to Calm, and My De-Stress Diary as the two books compliment one another. Dr. Annika Sörensen offers a helpful guide to use all year long and the next, beautifully packaged and ideal for gift giving and the upcoming holiday season.

Tackle Your Stress Head On!

Dr. Annika’s Take Stress From Chaos to Calm, an ideal book to help with the nasty thing we call STRESS! As a type A personality, and perfectionist myself— always looking for ways to reduce stress, and maintain optimal health and fitness.

We as humans need our health—in our business and personal lives, we all are trying to manage too many things at once— playing the balancing act at work and home. Especially in a world of social media, we are always “on” and feel pressured, not allowing ourselves to shut down and rest. It is easy to forget yourself, your own health—until it’s too late.

The good news—our choices today can change outcomes for tomorrow!

The Wheel of Life—Tackle your issues and find more holistic way of living. The eight-piece model Dr. Annika describes called the “Wheel of Life” as it represents key areas which together define you and illustrate everything which matters in your life.

Personal Development
Health
Work
Money
Network
Intimacy
Free time-hobbies
Surroundings

The Ensize/DISC Model (One of my favorite sections) an instrument providing valuable information about how people behave in their environment. According to the model, there are four different types of behavior. In the puzzle analysis colors are used as a simple way to describe different communication and behavior styles. All four colors are represented, but vary in strength from one style to another. Our individual communication style is a blend from all four colors. It is a blend of colors that gives our very own personal communication style and puts us in a specific spot on the communication map.

Sleep—is essential for a healthy life. Disturbed sleep is often the first sign when your body and mind have had too much. We all know what a lack of sleep causes. Take Stress from Chaos to Calm, describes the different stages of sleep with tips.

Free Time to Rest Your Brain—We only have 24 hrs. in a day, and when we put in tons of hours, staying late, giving up weekends, etc. our minds are exhausted so it takes longer to accomplish tasks than it would if we were well rested and energized. Dr. Annika creates a time circle, a tool to use to see how you are using your time. (aren’t we all guilty of this)?

Diet—Nourishment and Food Choices. Food is not only required for nourishment, but accompanying our food choices are deep-seated feelings and memories. Dr. Annika offers a breakdown for meals in detail Part One Carbohydrates; Part Two: Fruits and Vegetables; Part Three Protein.

Filled with helpful charts, forms, sleep, diet, physical activity, stress, diaries, important/urgent tools, cash flow chart-financial budget, priorities, and pros and cons. (visit website to learn more).

Dr. Annika provides case studies, exercises and workbook type tasks that challenge the imagination, leading readers to take calm stress and pull the pieces together! Highly recommend!
