I felt a little lost in this, it's been too long since I read this series. There were a lot of characters with complex back stories that were relevant to the tale, once I got into the swing of things it was mostly okay but this one is not a stand alone.
Still this did keep me guessing.
and that end...
Years back I read books 4-7 of this series, though I don't really remember much about them aside from the fact that they centered around a group of law enforcement agents who have paranormal abilities, and that it was run by a man named Bishop.
This was book 12. I works well enough as a stand alone novel, though there are a lot of references to events that happened in other books, and a couple of times I wished I'd had a bit more info on those events, so the best thing would probably to read the series in order.
The author did include footnotes throughout the book whenever these events were mentioned, which indicated which book in the series the events took place. I am undecided as to whether or not I found them irritating enough.
There is romance in this book, but it's very, very light, and actually the book didn't really seem to focus on one couple, but was more an ensemble piece.
I did like this book, but I'm unsure as to whether I want to start back at the beginning of the series or not. I mean, I probably will, but I'm in no hurry to do so.
