Gemini, Book 1
Camille Ellis is the Earthen Conclave’s golden girl. Her peculiar talent solves cases with a touch. She isn’t afraid of getting her hands dirty, but every bright star casts a shadow, and her deepest scars lurk just beneath the skin.
A routine consultation goes sideways when a victim’s brother gets involved in the investigation. Riding the edge of grief, the warg will go to any lengths to avenge his sister’s death. Even if it means ensuring Cam’s cooperation at the jaws of his wolf.
When the killer strikes again, Cam is caught between a warg and a hard place. To save the next victim, she must embrace her past. Even if it means dragging her darkest secrets into the light of day.
~ 4 Dead in the Water Stars ~
Dead in the Water is book one in the Gemini series by Hailey Edwards. We are treated to a kick-ass heroine, a hot hero, a dangerous mission with a mystery to solve and a few unexpected twists. The author pulled me in from the first to the last page and when the ending came, I wanted the next book Head Above Water, right away.
If you have read Hailey Edwards Black Dog series then you will notice that this book takes place in the same world. Some of the characters we meet in the Black Dog series, like Thierry and Shaw, make an appearance. It was nice to see those characters again. Even with this book tying into another series, the author does a good job with not making the reader feel like something is missing or confusing. We are treated to little pieces out of an extensive puzzle, which make sense, but when it’s all put together as a whole it makes up a substantial picture. This book just may make you want to try out the other series.
Camille is a Fae. My heart broke for Camille. Something bad happened in her past and she has been alone for a very long time. Also with her unique and unusual abilities, they too make her an outcast among her own kind and others, which adds to her aloneness. She will pull at your heart-strings and throughout the book you see that she is on a mission to redeem herself. I like her abilities and can’t wait to see what else she can do; besides seeing how her character will develop.
Cord Graeson is a hot warg aka werwolf. He’s Beta of the Georgia Warg Pack, so you know he’s got alpha tendencies, a great sense of duty, and will protect his pack. He is also a man on a mission. We don’t learn much about him, yet. I really can’t wait to learn more about him.
Cam and Graeson, these two didn’t hit it off at the beginning, but they both try to do what is right and find a common ground. I’m curious to see how the relationship will develop. We don’t have a romance yet, but you see it’s going in that direction. It’s going to be a nice slow build up.
BEWARE OF CLIFFHANGER:
Yes, the author leaves us with some questions, things still not resolved and a major cliffhanger. I was shocked by it, but I have to say it has me curious to see how everything will get resolved. If you don’t like books that continue on, then you may not enjoy HEdwards. She builds her world, plot, and characters with each book in the series. I find her storytelling and writing, refreshing and a change of pace from my usual reading. I don’t usually like cliffhangers, but I have to say this one is well done.
Dead in the Water is a great Urban Fantasy, with a kick-ass heroine, and a hot hero. If you enjoy a plot full of mystery and interesting twists then you will enjoy this book. I myself can’t wait for more in the Gemini series.

Hailey Edwards is off to an incredible start with Dead in the Water the first book in the Gemini Series. Earthen Conclave member, Agent Camille Ellis, is sent to investigate a serial murder of a supernatural child. The most-recent victim’s brother, Cord Graeson, Beta of the Georgia Warg Pack, becomes involved with the case to seek justice for his sister.
I like Camille. She is a Gemini, a type of Fae that is born twins. They can classify any Fae after a touch. They can also temporarily absorb the best qualities of other Fae. My heart went out to Camille for the loss of her twin. My heart also went out to Cord for the loss of his sister. Camille and Cord have an intense relationship that keeps the story interesting.
I love that Thierry and Shaw from Hailey Edwards’ Black Dog series make an appearance in this story.
I really enjoyed the plot. It was full of mystery and interesting twists. There was controversy, hidden agenda, and lots of action. I loved the ending and cannot wait for the next book. If you like Hailey Edwards’ Black Dog Series, you will definitely want to check out Dead in the Water.

Quick and dirty-Twisted Betrayals, Stolen Time and Forgotten Love all wrapped up in a tornado.
Did I love it ? No. Was I glued to the pages, yes. Will I re-read it, yes. This was a book with a lot going on in a very small world. Perhaps too small, so centered on Peri the main character. I didn't get a chance to know any of the other characters, it was very centered on the one girl. She was the eye of the storm. Dang she had more than enough messed up issues going on to carry three books but I wanted to know more on the others that blew into her sphere of timelines gone funky. Even if the story focused on her we still did't get any real knowledge of her or did we ? I just read 400 plus pages about Peri and i don't know a thing about her I don't think. It's all so confusing, nothing was solid. Did I just Draft ? Ha ! I need book 2, NEED I have to figure some of this stuff out. Ms. Harrison left everything hanging over the bottomless cliff. CLIFFHANGER
I think this would be an excellent audiobook I think I listen to it for my second reading
The Quick-Fantasy, mythical creatures, spirits, back stabbing, fighting and love's first kiss.
Audiobook- excellent narration
Twin sisters have a very special purpose in this world of magic and spirits. One is The Keeper one The Seeker, they find the angry spirits in the forest and send them to peace. At 16 they are young but not without skills, skills that they will need when the stories they believed to be just tales start to some true. Their village their family and their beliefs will all change and be challanged. They must survive.
The sisters, while they look identical are not alike in personality. Moria is feisty, warrior like, more jaded in her heart. Ashyn, is more gentle, trusting with an open heart and dreams of love. Both have bonded beasts, a Wild Cat and a Hound of The Immortals, while they are huge scary deadly beasts they do have their sweet little pet buddy moments.
When tragedy strikes they head off in the dangers of the forest and beyond. The two main travel pals are Gavril, the cold hearted soft as steal young man and Ranon a snarky light hearted Young man who survived horrendous challenges. Yin and Yang. Trust-worthy, they may not be. Lust-worthy, well there is a light touch of that, perhaps more. There was a romantic first kiss. yeh it was supper sweet I might have giggled with joy.
High on action, fantasy, and adventure, low on romance. I really enjoyed the characters, the adventure and loved the fantastical magical creatures. Didn't love the cliffhanger ending when the next book was not out yet. Ms. Armstrong left me hanging, wanting more, MORE ! I need to know if _______ really was the bad one !
