Sapphire Flame (Flame #7) - Caris Roane

This one was a lot longer than others in the series so it had a slower pace and no rushed feeling. Same concept and character development as the others in the series have had so there were no surprises. Great conflict and good characters. I enjoyed it, but would have liked a bit more emotional tension between the two main characters and their main obstacle which was of being different species. I think that would have added to the plot. Overall enjoyable, though, and continue to enjoy the series.

Ascension
Ascension - Caris Roane
Alison has always been different. As she gotten older, these abilities have progressed and she starts to have weird dreams. Kerrick is a immortal vampire warrior; a Warrior of the Blood. His job is to protect Alison from those who would harm her.
This was an interesting and different concept of vampires. Certain groups of humans, who have abilities get a "call" to ascend and become an immortal vampire. With wings (these take time to grow). First Earth AKA Mortal Earth is, well, earth. Second Earth is where the vampires live and is earth, but another dimension of earth. Vampires who chose to kill their victims/prey are called death vampires. The Warrior fight these vampires. There are different levels, some characters are power hungry and will go to great lengths to get power.
I found myself more intrigued by the baddie, Darian Greaves then Alison or Kerrick. I was curious to learn more about him and his own motivations. Paranormal romance has a shortage of badass warrior women who don't give a fuck what anyone says and have power. That's Endelle, the leader/head of the Warriors. She's interesting too; I wanted to learn more about her.
Alison, fairly cookie cutter, has soooo much power and is perfect. She's attracted to Kerrick, but feels she can't have him because she might hurt him. Kerrick wants Alison, but can't be with her because Reasons. He's also the typical Alpha-hole how thinks "MINE, no one touch or look at her.!"
Not bad, not great. Average. Feel like book (461 pgs) could have used a trim.

Emerald Flame (The Flame Series Book 6) - Caris Roane

This one was very much like the last one, A Wolf's Love. Warren is an injured wolf who doesn’t trust witches and yet falls for one. I could have really used more character development. There was so much great potential for emotional tension, strife, and having to overcome trust issues. They would have a moment of strong 'can’t trust her or her motives' but in the next breath he is trusting her with his life or kissing her. There was no drawn out, slow build-up to trust. I needed more development between the characters; their relationship could have moved slowly and through fighting the villain learned to trust the other or even moments when they could possibly go their separate ways because of insensitive comments or doubts to then come back together. It was rushed, 'will he, won’t he?' Will she leave, should she leave, etc.

I did enjoy their story beyond the desire for more character development. The villain and conflict was strong and it was an easy read. I do enjoy Caris Roane's take on paranormal romance and this story was entertaining and enjoyable.  My personal complaint is just me being nit-picky about what I want in characters.  The story was overall good and I look forward to more from the Flame universe.A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book and my comments here are my honest opinion.

New Release Review! Emerald Flame (Flame # 6) by Caris Roane
Emerald Flame (The Flame Series Book 6) - Caris Roane

An alpha wolf sizzling with storm power. An invisible witch. An evil wizard who wants them both dead.

The air felt wrong, like a thousand tiny needles pressing into the flesh of Alex Warren’s arms and shoulders.
He sat in his Border Patrol SUV in front of the Savage Territory station. His shift was over for the night, but he wasn’t ready to head in just yet.
Something was going down. He just didn’t know what…

~ EMERALD FLAME, A Paranormal Romance

A witch scarred him…

Warren couldn’t trust witches. One had tried to kill him with her poisoned spell.

Though he survived, he was left badly disfigured and blind in one eye.

When Kiara, a beautiful witch, begins to heal him, he finds himself craving her. But his prejudice against her kind runs deep.

As an evil wizard attacks Savage Territory, can Warren set aside his prejudice, or will he lose his pack, and his territory, forever?

Wolves hate the secretive nature of Elegance Territory…

Kiara never meant to fall for a wolf.

But from the moment she met Warren, her heart beat only for him.

She also knew he could never go for her. A witch had almost killed him once.

When a vile wizard makes a play for Savage Territory, and Warren needs her help, their relationship climbs to dizzying heights.

Yet the scars he bears tells her she can only be a passing flame.

Can she protect her heart? Or will the passionate affair leave her forever desolate?

EMERALD FLAME, A Paranormal Romance, is a passionate, tender, standalone romance set in the Flame Series and the world of Five Bridges.

I always have an exciting time when I visit Five Bridges and the wonderful characters that reside there and Emerald Flame is no exception, in fact I would go so far as to say that it just may be my favorite book so far. Kiara and Warren captures my attention with their sizzling attraction, tempestuous emotions and the thrilling danger that the couple finds themselves facing.

As always Caris Roane brings her characters to bright, vivid like that makes it easy for the readers to get to know them and in this case to empathize with their emotional worries which make the couple vulnerable. The romance is a bit rocky while the passions sizzles with vibrant intensity between them and their enemy keeps them hopping with some thrilling action and suspense while the couple fight to stay alive and enact daring rescues that really get the adrenaline pumping. The alter side of this world adds such thrilling spice to the characters that readers can only guess at what might happen next not only in the action of the story, but the romance as well.

Warren and Kiara’s electrifying chemistry leaps off the pages and the readers become engrossed in the story right off the bat as the couple ponder their situation (sorry no spoilers) and the story just keeps getting better as the suspense builds and thrills keep coming ensuring that readers keep turning the pages.

I was completely wowed by Warren and Kiara’s story and I will be waiting impatiently until I can visit the Five Bridges world again.

A Wolf's Love - Caris Roane

He hates her, the hate and distrust is built up well and steady even throughout the mission to save the girl. But the moment the mission is over all of a sudden he cares. He wants to go back to her place. Says 'this won’t change anything but let’s sleep together anyway'. He blames it on the adrenaline. Her side is more believable. It is clear from the start she still loves him but is resigned to not having him. I can even understand the craving to spend the night together for her. The moment that it is all done her crying continues the belief that she wanted what little he was willing to give. But him, I didn’t like his sudden change of heart. At least not in the context that it happened. I would have believed it if Monique confirms to him that she was trying to kill him proving Lauren's story that she was just protecting him months ago when she injured his knee. Would have even believed the change of heart if it happened when he thought he truly lost her. His sudden magic abilities and that he is totally ok with that he is now part warlock after the buildup of his hatred for all things witch just made the whole thing unbelievable and far-fetched. This story had great potential but I think it needed to be a full-length novel in order to do it and the characters justice. I love her stuff, but this one was hard to enjoy for its abruptness and rushed sense of falling in love.
