BIRDS OF PREY by Crissy Smith
Birds of Prey (Shifter Chronicles Book 1) - Crissy Smith

Aubrey works security for her Cast. Her uncle, head of the Cast, has been murdered. The Coalition has been called in to investigate. The head of the Bird shifters investigators is Cody, Aubrey's former lover. He tells to butt out, but she does not listen. She finds the perp but ends up in trouble. Will Cody be able to rescue her?

I liked this couple. They are strong separately and together. They butt heads a lot but learn to work together. The world building is good. It sets up the series well. The story is weak as there are more questions than answers. How did the murderer get as far as he did? Why was no alarm raised from where he came? How did he get away with it? Why? There were a few lines about his motive and opportunity, but they felt throwaway at best. I do look forward to reading more of the series.

REVIEW BY MERISSA - Pack Rogue (Were Chronicles #4) by Crissy Smith
Pack Rogue - Crissy Smith
Pack Rogue is the fourth book in the Were Chronicles series, and we meet Kiley, who was held prisoner by Riker, and Austin, an Alpha visiting his friend. Although it isn't exactly clear what happened, you do know that something happened whilst Riker held Kiley that wasn't very pleasant! This has effected the way that Kiley feels and thinks about both the Pack, and the land she used to call home. Austin never expected to see Kiley again, not after she disappeared following their one night together, and he certainly wasn't expecting her to show up at Tyler's home. However, he will take what he can, and goes out of his way to show Kiley that he can be just the wolf she needs.

This was very well written, with no editing or grammatical errors to disrupt the reading flow. The pace was smooth, and the plot went along quite smoothly. If I had anything specific to say, it would be that because you don't know exactly what happened to Kiley, apart from it was one of the most heinous crimes that Riker got charged with, her reactions don't always make sense. However, that being said, this was still an enjoyable book that kept my attention from start to finish. Definitely recommended by me.

REVIEW BY MERISSA - Pack Territory (Were Chronicles #3) by Crissy Smith
Pack Territory - Crissy Smith
Pack Territory is the third book in the Were Chronicles and features Adam, Christian's son and new Alpha of his Pack. After the attack on Mindy, Christian is still suffering, and even though Logan is there to try and help, Adam can't see any improvement. Now Adam also has his own worries to contend with, about how he will be able to lead the Pack. Luckily for him, his friends make an appearance, which also gives the reader chance to meet up with Cain and Gage again, always a pleasure! He also has Tasha on-board, a shifter he has admired from afar. It turns out that she likes him too, and so we begin!

I loved this book! It was very well written, with no editing or grammatical errors to disrupt the reading flow, and explains in perfect details the worries that Adam has. An exciting story, with new characters and situations, old characters who we learn more about, and a general feel-good factor thrown in too. This is a brilliant series, and I highly recommend each and every book.

Pack Enforcer (Were Chronicles #2) by Crissy Smith
Pack Enforcer (Were Chronicles Book 2) - Crissy Smith
Pack Enforcer is the second book in the Were Chronicles, and focuses on Cain, a pack enforcer, and Emily, a single wolf adopted into Cain's family. The spark had always been there, but Cain had tried to ignore it for years. However, when female wolves are being attacked, they are recalled home. Cain in the one sent to collect Emily, and the sparks fly once again. Their relationship starts, and continues, with a bang! With miscommunication, jealous alphas, plus a killer to find, this book is packed full of action.

The only downside to this book is the quick conclusion of the killer. I loved the other characters that we were introduced to, but the actual result itself seemed over and done with, and was quite anti-climatic. We also don't know WHY he was doing what he was doing.

On the whole though, this is very well written, with no editing or grammatical errors to disrupt the reading flow. Definitely recommended by me, and I look forward to reading more in this series.

Pack Alpha (Were Chronicles #1) by Crissy Smith
Pack Alpha (Were Chronicles Book 1) - Crissy Smith
Pack Alpha is the first book in the Were Chronicles and tells the story of Gage, the Pack Alpha of the title, and Marissa Boyd, a non-shifting shifter who is the sister of a member of Gage's Pack. The whys and wherefores of how her sister came to be in Gage's Pack is explained in the book, so I won't rehash. All I will say is that Marissa is essentially a lone wolf, and not all by choice. Marissa has to face an awful truth in that the world is not as she always thought it. With Gage wanting to be by her side, with the truth set her free, or break her?

This is very well written, with some excellent, soul destroying, parts about how Marissa feels with her wolf trapped inside. Gage is well developed, with full on protective Alpha instincts that roar whenever he thinks Marissa is in danger.

I personally would have preferred to find out a bit more about Marissa and Emily's old Pack, and why Brandon came back after all this time, but on the whole, there was everything in this book you could wish for - including some steaming sex scenes.

Definitely recommended and a good start to a new series.

* I received this book from Totally Bound Publishing in return for a fair and honest review. *
