ARC REVIEW Dangerous Desires by Dawn Altieri

Dangerous DesiresKiller Instincts #1, To me the book was okay, there was nothing really wrong with it but I had a hard time keeping my attention focused on the book. I liked the characters okay and the story was interesting enough, even if it was really predictable. I do enjoy the bodyguard trope and the whole forbidden romance that goes with it but this one missed the mark with me.

Three years ago Emma lost her fiance to a hit and run accident and they never caught the person, now Emma is trying to start over with her best friend nudging her to start dating again. Emma is assaulted outside her apartment luckily her neighbor intervened and scared the guy away. Later that night a woman was murdered who looked like Emma. Detective Jake Quinn was a rookie detective on Emma's fiancee's hit and run he's never stopped thinking about her. He's lead detective on this most recent murder and when Emma reports the attack Jake doesn't think it's a coincidence. Even before he had department approval he starts protecting her. But this killer is escalating he's sending messages to Emma and calling her and views Jake as a threat. Emma hasn't felt this way about anybody since her fiance, Jake has awaken a desire in her she forgot she had and now with the threat on her head they both have to fight the desire raging between them or it could risk Jake his career and the case.

Overall, the book had its moments. It's not one of my favorites but it wasn't horrible either it was a decent read and I would read more by this author mostly because I don't judge an author by a single book.

a 4 star scorcher!
Temptation and Treachery (Dangerous Desi... Temptation and Treachery (Dangerous Desires) - Sahara Roberts
Independent reviewer for Archaeolibrarian, I was gifted my copy of this book. Using the official blurb, cos whatever I write comes out all kinds of wrong! Andres “Rio” Rivera became his ICE profile years ago. Cold and calculating, he never promises anything beyond right now. But when he ends up with a cancelled flight and a shared hotel room with the secretive Celeste Patron, the fire behind Celeste’s buttoned-up exterior melts every barrier. He may only have her for one night, but that’s long enough to make her every fantasy come true. When Celeste leaves, Rio returns to hunting a notorious cartel leader. His shock upon arresting the man is eclipsed when he discovers the woman he fell for is his daughter…and she’s pregnant with Rio’s baby. I was thinking, before I started this book, I really need a down and dirty book. One with instant powerful attraction and a good deal of heat, maybe a scorcher, just to lose myself in. And boy did this deliver! Celeste's attraction to Rio is instant and extremely powerful. her alter ego Vix strongly approves of Celeste's choice! They get their down and dirty on early in the book, and once they get their wires uncrossed, and Celeste realizes that Rio is trying to keep her safe, they get it on again! Phew!! Other than the scorching heat level, the fact that Rio is after Celeste's father for Cartel crimes, and that he might not actually be responsible for those crimes, I figured really quickly who might really be. I did not think he would put Celeste's life in danger. Surprised at that bit! This is, from what I see, book 3 in the series. I did not know that before I went in, so I saw some future stories playing in my head as I read this one. But it appears all that plotting and planning was for nothing, since the pair I set up together, have their own, SEPARATE books! I would like to read them, especially if they are as hot as this one! A very well written, well needed.... 4 stars **same worded review will appear elsewhere**

Dangerous Desires (Collection) - C.J. Ly... Dangerous Desires (Collection) - C.J. Lyons, Debra Webb, Vicki Hinze, VR Marks, Peggy Webb, Regan Black, Kathy Carmichael OK, I've only read the first two but enjoyed both very much.

The Amazon blurb

Chasing Shadows by CJ Lyons
Going undercover, playing the part of a disgraced former Marine, is easy for Chase Westin--until a Christmas Eve mission takes him back to his hometown and face to face with his estranged brother. When KC, an undercover FBI agent, flies into Chase's life with her Doc Martens, purple, punk-rock hair, and Hollywood-hype leather and chains, Chase realizes that falling in love is more dangerous than catching bullets.

Dirty by Debra Webb
Jackie Mercer can't abide deception. A woman who single-handedly built the Mercer Detective Agency from the ground up has a right to expect honesty in a relationship. Tell that to the creep who, only this morning, she thought might be Mr. Right. Wrong! Her day only gets worse when an ominous message arrives accompanied by the photo of a man she hasn't seen in ten years: You were the last one to see him alive. She's in real trouble when a second message, this one including a dead body, drops into the mix. Jackie does what any smart Texas woman would do: she kicks butt and takes names, while the mystery spiraling around her long lost lover and her attraction to Derrick Dawson plunge her into a tangled web of shocking secrets and deadly deceptions.

Chasing Shadows was great, fast-paced and well-written I will be looking out for more by CJ Lyons - definitely up there with the better military-special ops/thriller romances.

Dirty was a different change of pace with a sassy female PI, 45 with a son at University, uncovering a 10 year old mystery.

I will review the others later
