quote 2014-01-22 16:12
"I know a lot about stories and magic - thanks to reading lots of books and also belonging to a forum on the internet - and the most basic rule is that it has to come as a surprise. Nobody hopped into a wardrobe to find Narnia; they hopped in thinking it just a wardrobe. They didn't climb up the Faraway Tree, knowing it was a Faraway Tree; they thought it was just a really big tree. Harry Potter thought he was a normal boy. Mary Poppins was supposed to be a regular nanny.
It's the first and only rule. Magic comes when you're not looking for it."

Geek Girl by Holly Smale

I'm going to read this book, mostly based on the quote above. How very true.

Neanderthal Seeks Human: A Smart Romance Review
Neanderthal Seeks Human - Penny Reid

There are three things you need to know about Janie Morris: 1) She is incapable of engaging in a conversation without volunteering TMTI (Too Much Trivial Information), especially when she is unnerved, 2) No one unnerves her more than Quinn Sullivan, and 3) She doesn't know how to knit.

After losing her boyfriend, apartment, and job in the same day, Janie Morris can't help wondering what new torment fate has in store. To her utter mortification, Quinn Sullivan- aka Sir McHotpants- witnesses it all then keeps turning up like a pair of shoes you lust after but can't afford. The last thing she expects is for Quinn- the focus of her slightly, albeit harmless, stalkerish tendencies- to make her an offer she can't refuse.

Review

I highly recommend this book. You have a chance to get in on the ground floor at the start of a great new romance writer's career.

This is my best Romance find of 2013. I promote this book everywhere I can because I think it is that good.

The Great: Funny. This book is funny. I love the heroine who is genuinely brilliant. She does not have a great deal of common sense but that is part of the fun of her and its explained well. Her friends are wonderful. The hero is human and also alpha. They both grow as people. He is also very smart, self aware, and witty. I love that. It is sexy but not explicit and this is handled well. I like all kinds of steam levels as long as it feels real and this does. The epilogue switches the the hero's point of view and its grand.

Its a charmer of a book and I have already reread it 3 times.

This book has first book growing pains but overall it is such a wonderful read that those issues are very forgivable and over time forgettable.

The next book in this series is just as good (I have the ARC! Lucky me!) and comes out soon.

Right now, this book is 99 Cents on Amazon. Pick it up. You can't go wrong. Your day will be much more lovely for it.
