Grimnirs
Grimnirs - Ednah Walters **A copy of this book was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.**

I'm not really sure what to say about this novella. It was definitely an okay read. It started off with a 3.5 stars, but that ending when it picked up earned it a 4 stars.

Grimnirs follows Cora after her release from PMI psych ward. Ever since the accident that occurred at a swim meet (read Runes) she was able to see ghosts, Valkyries and Grimnirs. She confided in her parents, but they put her in a psych ward. Now that she is out she is trying to figure everything out. Cora meets a Grimnir named Echo. In book 2, Immortals, Maliina transformed herself into Cora while Cora was in PMI so Echo thought Cora was Maliina and despite Cora telling him she was not around, he didn't believe her until she was cut. When he found out the truth his love for Cora was too strong and he vowed to protect her from the Grimnirs, Hel and Maliina.

I loved that Cora still was sassy and bold with her attitude. She didn't get scared easily and never held back when talking to Echo. Their romance was cute because his obsession for her made her fall for him, but when he found out the truth he backed away only to fall harder. Reminded me of how Torin and Raine fell in love.

Poor Eirik. To get dumped by both girls he love hurts and truly sucks. The fact that he is going to meet his mother Hel scares me. He believes his love life is to reflect that of his mothers and I'm afraid that he will let his dark side take over. And the way he told Cora he will always come back for her makes me think he will hold her hostage like his mom did to his father. I just feel so bad for him, but I hope he doesn't become like his mother. I wish he would have went to Asgard instead.

Andris is still a jerk. Totally loved his conversation and remarks with Cora. Completely funny. I love how Ingrid explained what happened to Cora prior to her going to PMI and explaining what her sister Maliina did to her. I'm glad that Lavania saved Cora and turned her. It just makes all the friendship and connection between Cora, Raine and Eirik a bit more interesting.

OMG I hope Maliina is seriously done for. She is a piss of crap. I don't get why she is obsessed with ruining everyone life over Andris being attracted to Raine. She is an insecure pompous female and hope Andris killed her. She had no right marking Cora in book 1, Runes, and had no right to pretend to be Cora at all. She is a sick child.

Overall, Grimnirs was an okay read and it does help to understand more about Cora and what took place in Immortals, book 2. I am ready to move on to the final book in the series and see how it all ends for Cora, Raine and Eirik.

Grimnirs
Grimnirs - Ednah Walters Received from NetGalley for an unbiased review.

Grimnirs work for Goddess Hel, doing her bidding and bringing back souls to the underworld. They can create portals, carry around scary weapons and are dressed in all leather. They are not, however, Grim Reapers! Don't get them confused!

Cora has had a rough go of it lately, being in a psych ward and all. It gets even more confusing when everyone seems to not even know she was away - in fact - shes been in two places at once! Or has she? Is it astral projection? Impersonation? Cora must delve deep into the world of Gods and Spirits to discover what really happened the months she remembers being committed.

Echo is a bad ass Grimnir, and hes the only link that Cora has to the hidden world she is now part of. Only he can tell her why she sees Spirits, and he seems to know a little too much about Cora when she's never seen him before!

Ednah writes a novel concerning Gods, spirits, a touch of magic and mystery. Once you think you understand whats going on she throws another wrench into the story. The reader is constantly guessing whats going on, and trying to stay one step ahead of the author.

Cora and Echo's relationship begins to develop at a believable pace, and thankfully Echo never gives up his bad boy persona in exchange for a love sick puppy. The reader is left wondering what Echo wants from Cora and why Echo is so interested in a girl who knows so little.

Grimnirs is a gritty AND witty, with an ounce of intrigue. A melting pot of Gods and modern day life. This book should most definitely be part of the series as its own book - rather than a tie over to the next novel.

Review - Grimnirs by Ednah Walters
Grimnirs (Runes, #2.5) - Ednah Walters,Kelly Hashway

I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Grimnirs is book #3 in the Runes series. I haven't read any of the other books, and I don't think that impacted my enjoyment in the least. This is an urban fantasy featuring Norse mythology which is rather timely with the recent release of the latest Thor movie. This story starts out interesting, pulling the reader in from the very first page. I will admit that I wish I had read the other books in the series and will pick them up when I have the chance.

Cora's memories don't quite mesh with what she's seeing. While she thought she was stuck in a mental institution, she was also at school acing tests, updating her vlog, and juggling three guys. She's confused, especially given the mountain of evidence that suggests it really was her in both places at once. Poor Cora, saddled with overprotective parents, friends who keep her in the dark, and a gorgeous guy she wants but who thinks it's chivalrous to deny himself the pleasure of her company.

Romantic interest Echo is a swoon worthy alpha-male. Something about the way Ms. Walters wrote his character really got my motor humming. The feelings he has for Cora are so strong and sweet. He's equal parts strength and wit combined with just the right amount of angst and heartache, all wrapped up in a delicious exterior. One word for Echo: Yummy.

The story is mysterious and fun; it's just really good from beginning to end. Ms. Walters does an excellent job building suspense about Cora's memory dilemma. I think my favorite part was the characters, the way they interacted and the dialogue. The ending was especially satisfying, which should send any reader to Amazon in search of more Ednah Walters books.

Grimnirs is an upper YA fantasy romance due to mature content and sexual situations. I recommend it to ages 17+. If you enjoy mythology, you'll love this novel. The fantasy is intriguing and the romance sweet, just the way I like it.

GRIMNIRS (Runes Book): is now available

Grimnirs
Runes Series #2.5
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/18715094-surrender-to-temptation

The closer I got to my school, the more nervous I became. The last two days had been a nightmare—worrying about school, Echo returning with more outlandish stories, watching the videos on my vlog over and over, and trying to find anything that made sense.

The annoying reaper didn’t come back, and I didn’t find anything useful online. It was me on those videos, not someone impersonating me or a doppelganger. The mannerism, facial expressions, even the laugh on those videos said it was me.

But how had I sneaked out of the psych ward? Had I created a portal through a mirror the way Echo had done, but had been too pumped full of psych meds to remember? The problem was I didn’t sound drugged or look loopy in the videos. Not knowing how I’d recorded them was driving me nuts.

For two days, I’d researched supernatural phenomena. Astral projection was a possible explanation. I could see souls, so it wasn’t a stretch. Echo flashed his tats and became invisible, so my astral image could have hooked up with him.

Right. It sounded like something straight out of a fantasy novel. I would have remembered Echo. Making out with him. I just hated the idea of having had sex with him. How could I have forgotten my first time?

Dad stopped at the stop sign, and I pulled up behind him. I’d insisted on bringing my Elantra even though he and Mom had caused a big stink about it. How the heck was I going to go back to being normal when I couldn’t drive myself to school? After clothes shopping with Mom yesterday and souls following us everywhere like zombies, I knew I couldn’t let her chauffeur me around. She’d almost caught me glaring at a soul.

A sudden cold draft filled my car as I stepped on the gas. I smothered a scream and slammed on the brakes when my eyes met Echo’s in the rear-view mirror.

Immortals (Book 2)

Blurb

Nothing can stop Raine Cooper when she wants something…
Raine finally knows that her gorgeous neighbor, Torin St. James, is a legend straight out of Norse mythology, and that her feelings for him are strong. Torin is crazy about Raine too, breaking the one rule he lives by: Never fall for a mortal. The problem is he no longer remembers her, his memories erased by Norns—Norse destiny deities—to punish her for defying them.
So Raine comes up with a plan…
She will make Torin forget his one rule a second time and fall in love with her all over again. But she quickly learns that well-laid plans do not work when dealing with deities and supernatural beings. Desperate, Raine makes choices that could not only tear her and Torin further apart, but lead to the destruction of everything and everyone she loves.

Grimnirs (Book 2.5)

Blurb

Straight out of the psyche ward, Cora just wants her life to be normal. She doesn’t want to see souls or the reapers collecting them. The love of her life, the guy she’s loved from a distance for years, has moved away without saying goodbye. So yes, she’s nursing a serious heartbreak. It’s no wonder love is the last thing on her mind when Echo storms into her life.
The chemistry between them is mind-blowing. The connection defies logic. It doesn’t help that Echo is the poster boy for everything she hates in a guy—hot, beautiful, and cocky. A general pain-in-the-butt. Being around him makes her feel more alive than she’s ever felt before. But more important, the souls leave her alone when he is around.
Echo is perfect for her. Echo might even be her soul-mate. There is only one problem. Echo is a freaking soul reaper. A Grimnir. The very beings she wants out of her life. Maybe normal is overrated because Cora wants it all. Answers. Love. A life. You see, once you fall for a Grimnir, your life will never be the same again.
