...this is the first time in almost a week I was able to get booklikes to load. It's just getting worse, isn't it? And if that's not bad enough, I finally created a post on Wordpress after the new update.  Typically my posts are crossovers from here or tumblr, or whatever.  So that block thing...OMG does it suck so much ass!  I tried to "switch to classic editor"  and you know what it did?  It took me right back to the block editor.  It's so...ugh!  It's frustrating and I now want to start looking for a new book blog spot.  I'm on Librarything, but it's not a blog spot and you couldn't pay me to go back to goodreads.  I've recently signed up for the beta site The StoryGraph, and though I haven't fully explored it, I'm pretty sure it's not a full-on blog spot like here.  I think it'll be a good site after some time, but right now, the only way to import your library is from goodreads, so that's going to make adding my library tedious.

So...suggestions?  I know I should probably suck it up and figure out how to make the new wordpress update work for me, but I don't have a ton of time to blog as it is.  And when I have the time, I'm usually exhausted and sore from work.  Life is stressful enough right now, and book blogging is supposed to be fun.  I barely have a handle on wordpress as it is.  Again, UGH!!

If anyone is/has been blogging somewhere else that they like and find (at least a little) user-friendly, I'd love a heads-up.

Also, I hope everyone is doing well,  I know I've been absent from here for a bit and only part of that is because the site only works half the time I log on.

This novella presents a future dystopian world where the US has devolved into a wild west style set of territories or regions. There’s mention of a war going on but not much detail is mentioned beyond all the diesel being funneled to tanks and military purposes. I found this novella initially engaging, and I liked Esther learning more about her wider world and that there were people like her out there who weren’t doomed to a bad end. The librarians go around distributing “approved materials” and smuggling essential supplies and Esther wants to join them after running away from home and a creepy marriage prospect. I’m not sure the whole Amity storyline made all that much sense though and not all that much happened in the novella, overall. I also had a bit of an issue with Esther’s immediate attraction to Cye when she was obviously still traumatized by Beatriz’s death.

Also me: Let's reread this Caroline B. Cooney novel late late one night when I should be asleep. 

I don't remember why, but I had a sudden need to reread this book. It was like a craving that wouldn't go away. The book is really silly, but I still enjoyed parts (probably out of nostalgia), especially when Alice is on the college campus. Cooney's novels are very exciting when you're 10 and the internet is not a thing or when you're... older than 10 and just need to take a little brain break and revisit your childhood. 

Bald was found by an old coworker Land to do a job. Land tempted him with a new life when he is no longer hunted by the Firm. 

Lot of actions, lot of guns. Bald found out the the bad guy he is after also have the Russians chasing after him.

So he is in. For the money and for the freedom. During the chase, lot of betrayal and there is no trust anywhere. He don't really know who to trust. 

And someone try to kill him too. 

It is action pack. But Bald is not really a likable character. He is too trigger hapy to be a good person. And he is after the money instead of higher ideal. That's no good. 

His moral compass is all weird as well. Plus he is kind of sexist. 

Not likable character but might to closer to a not so sophisticated or educated persons. but highly trained in weapons. Scary world that the main character might died if he is not lucky or skill or both. 

Character need to develop better. On the whole still good enough because of the action and the plot twist.
