Dating the Prince of Darkness has its challenges....

Leila's psychic abilities have been failing her, and now she isn't sure what the future holds. If that weren't enough, her lover, Vlad, has been acting distant. Though Leila is a mere mortal, she's also a modern woman who refuses to accept the cold-shoulder treatment forever - especially from the darkly handsome vampire who still won't admit that he loves her....

Like choosing between eternal love and a loveless eternity....

Soon circumstances send Leila back to the carnival circuit, where tragedy strikes. And when she finds herself in the crosshairs of a killer who may be closer than she realizes, Leila must decide who to trust - the fiery vampire who arouses her passions like no other or the tortured knight who longs to be more than a friend? With danger stalking her every step of the way, all it takes is one wrong move to damn her for eternity....

This series is in the same world as the Night Huntress series. You can read the Night Prince series without reading the other, but I highly recommend reading Night Huntress first. Many previous characters come to visit Vlad and you can understand their relationships more if you have had the pleasure of reading the other first, but Night Prince can stand on its own.

Now, I read Twice Tempted when it first came out in 2013. I LOVED it! I devoured each book as they came out, but then the fourth and final book came and I never got around to reading it. When a series you love comes to an end it’s hard to finish that last book, but now I’m going to, so I’m going back and listening to the series for the first time to refresh myself.

*****

Twice Tempted is book two in the Night Prince series by Jeaniene Frost. We continue where Once Burned left off.

Lelia and Vlad are having problems. She feels that Vlad doesn’t want her anymore; because her powers are lost or maybe temporarily lost. No one knows! Vlad tries to show her he wants her, but the way he does that leads to a huge embarrassing moment and they break up.

What does she do? She stands her ground and when Vlad doesn’t give her what she needs she leaves and returns to Marty and the circus, but things soon go bad when someone tries to kill her. From there we are on one wild and crazy ride where Lelia try’s to figure out who wants her dead and in the process try to avoiding Vlad; which is an impossibility. The forces working against these two is a mystery throughout the story. It keeps things off-kilter and interesting.

We get a little cameo appearance of Cat. I love Cat and Bones.

Twice Tempted doesn’t disappoint. Theirs no shortage of emotional turmoil, action, suspense, mystery, surprises, and steam.

Narration: Tavia Gilbert continues to do a spectacular job. I love her voices for all the characters; especially Vlad and the story and plot come to life. You feel for Lelia in this one. I highly recommend the audiobook for the Night Prince series.

She's a mortal cursed with dark power....

After a tragic accident scarred her body and destroyed her dreams, Leila never imagined that the worst was still to come: a terrifying ability to channel electricity and to see a person's darkest secrets through a single touch. Leila is doomed to a life of solitude ... until creatures of the night kidnap her, forcing her to reach out with a telepathic distress call to the world's most infamous vampire.

He's the Prince of Night....

Vlad Tepesh inspired the greatest vampire legend of all - but whatever you do, don't call him Dracula. Vlad's ability to control fire makes him one of the most feared vampires in existence, but his enemies have found a new weapon against him: a beautiful mortal with powers to match his own. When Vlad and Leila meet, passion ignites, threatening to consume them. It will take everything they have to stop an enemy intent on bringing them down in flames.

*****

Once Burned is book one in the Night Prince series by Jeaniene Frost.

Vlad, oh Vlad. I love him. I loved him the moment he was introduced in the Night Huntress series and he is just as sexy and aragonite in his own series. I can’t tell you have happy I am that he got his own series. He’s damaged, dangerous, complex, and sexy. There is more to this Vampire than meets the eye. He’s lived through things that most people would have broke from.

Leila is a young women who had an accident that left her with some interesting side effects that changed her life. Her touch electrocutes anyone who she comes in contact with. Besides that she has the power to see the past and future just by touching an object.

These two meet in their minds first, but soon she’s under his protect. I loved these two together. Leila stands up to Vlad and no one stands up to him. They work together to find out who wants Vlad dead, who wants to use Leila to do it, and as they work together they grow closer, but will Vlad every love.

Frost is a talented writer. How she builds the romance and shows that a virgin heroine is not a burden, but a strong, capable, and special women.

Narration: Tavia Gilbert did a spectacular job. I loved her voices for all the characters, but especially Vlad. She gave him that old world charm and cariama. The story and plot come to life. I adored the audio and highly recommend this series and the audiobook.

Pack
Pack - Jeaniene Frost

I Picked Up This Book Because: Needed a quick listen while finishing up some errands.

The Characters:

Marlee Peters:
Daniel:
Christopher, Jack, Mel, David, Mike, Liz, Rick, Brie

The Story:

A quick story of a woman suddenly being thrust into a new world only to find that it’s right where she belongs. After getting lost camping in the woods alone Marlee is attacked and turned into a wolf. She is forced to stay with the pack anticipating her first turn and learning to adjust to her new life when she learns that the pack enforcer, Daniel, is her mate. This story moves quick and steams up pretty fast. I enjoyed it.

Shades of Wicked
Shades of Wicked - Jeaniene Frost

Night Rebel, Book 1

I Picked Up This Book Because: Celeb memoirs are my jam.

The Characters:

Ian: Who I have loved since he first graced us with his presence on the page
Veritas: Who we don’t know well but that all changes in this book
Dagon, Silver, Mencares, Cat, Bones

The Story:

This story is a great addition to the Night Huntress World. We’ve been waiting for Ian’s story and Ms Frost did not disappoint. This is a fast paced adventure with comedy and sex on the side.

I especially enjoyed the ending and can't wait for the next book.

This Side of the Grave by Jeaniene Frost
This Side of the Grave - Tavia Gilbert,Jeaniene Frost

This review can also be found at Carole's Random Life in Books.

I had fun with this re-read. It appears that I did like this one a little more the second time around since I only gave the book 3 stars when I read it in 2012. This isn't the best book in the series but I still found it enjoyable. I hadn't planned to listen to this book when I did but none of the audiobooks I started were working for me but everything seemed to work when I gave this one a try. I ended up listening to the entire audiobook in just a couple of days and enjoyed my time back in the Night Huntress World.

The last two books in the Night Huntress Universe focused on other couples so I was glad to see Cat and Bones back in the lead for this installment. Cat and Bones find themselves in the middle of a conflict between ghouls and vampires. They have to play their cards very carefully in order to get the outcome they hope to see. I really enjoyed seeing a little more in regards to Cat's developing powers and some of the more interesting side effects she encounters in this book. There are some other developments in this story that aren't easy for Cat to deal with.

I love the characters in this series. Cat and Bones are always awesome and together they are amazing. I love the way Bones has no problem telling Cat what he feels and doesn't hesitate to do so. I also have a lot of love for the larger group. I loved getting to see Spade, Denise, Mencheres, and Kira play a part in this installment. Vlad was amazing in this book. I love his scenes with Cat even if he tends to steal a lot of her spotlight. I cannot wait to get to his books as I re-read this series.

Tavia Gilbert does such a fantastic job with this series. I love all of the voices that she uses for the different characters but I think she might deserve some kind of award for the voice she uses for Bones. It is absolutely perfect. I think that one of the reasons that I enjoyed this book more than I did the first time I read it is her narration. She was able to bring this story to life in the most amazing way.

I would recommend this series to others. While I don't think that this is the strongest book in the series, I had a good time with it and can't wait to read more books in this wonderfully crafted universe.

Initial Thoughts
I gave this book 3 stars back in 2012 and I am going to bump it up to 4 with this reading. This is not one of the stronger books in the series though. It felt like filler in some ways. I did think that learning more about Cat's abilities was pretty interesting and it was great to see this group of characters again. Vlad really seems to take the spotlight in any scenes that he is involved in and I just am loving his character more and more. Tava Gilbert did an amazing job with the narration once again.
