Nailed
Nailed - Lucia Jordan

This had an interesting premise - newly single Conrad Blunt has his secretary find an escort for him to take to the charity ball.. his sister doesn't like that idea and has her best friend done up to accompany him which he doesn't know and he doesn't remember Emma anyway. But this was boring. It was repetitious. It was like the author went through the thesaurus and used weird words to describe the anticlimactic sex scene between these two. Ugh. Thank God it was short and it was free. I won't be reading more in this series or looking for more from this author.

What a wonderful discovery !
Nailed by my Dad's Best Friend - Corinne Matthews

"He was her father’s best friend! How could she have been turned on? It upset her and it angered her."

And that is the gist of it haha, but seriously, all romance lovers should get their hands on this new book and read Corinne Matthews because it is worth your attention.

I discovered this book on Instafreebie (you get free ebooks every week so check it out) and the summary attracted me, it was right down my alley. I have never heard about this author before and then I realised that this was something brand new so I got even more excited.

And my expectations were all met and I got something extra to add to my favourite romance authors. What an incredible day.

Summary goes something like this:

Rachel is an only child and wants to move to her own place because her parents are somewhat overprotective and she wants to build a life of her own. Helping her with fixing her apartment is her dad's best friend Simon. As they spend more time together they see each other in a different light. They realise they are both adults and single and very much attracted to each other. Add to that a stalker who adds a lot more spice to this book and you have a great read.

"As she helplessly obeyed Simon’s order, she realized in a haze of shock and pleasure that this time she was being taken by a man, not an inexperienced teenager."

"Their chemistry was explosive, he thought. She was the first woman he had met who turned him on within seconds. He really wanted to hear her scream."

This book has romance, thriller and a good addition of naughty and steamy added to it so it is definitely my kind of a ride.

If I had to nitpick I would say that pacing was a little off. It would have been perfect if the ending wasn't as rushed and if misunderstandings weren't resolved in a single chapter.

But everything else right on. Keep writing, Corinne, I'll be waiting for the next one ;)

Meet the Author:

Cindi Madsen is a USA Today Bestselling author of contemporary romance and young adult novels. She sits at her computer every chance she gets, plotting revising, and falling in love with her characters. Sometimes it makes her a crazy person. Without it, she’d be even crazier. She has way too many shoes, but can always find a reason to buy a new pretty pair, especially if they’re sparkly, colorful, or super tall. She loves music, dancing, and wishes summer lasted all year long. She lives in Colorado (where summer is most definitely NOT all year long) with her husband and three children.

About the Book:

I'm Ivy Clarke. Bartender, best friend, and disbeliever in love.
And now I'm in over my head, trying to flip a house all by myself.
Thanks, HGTV.
I'm not too proud to admit I need some help. Too bad the only one who can help me is the same man I want to throw out this house's second-story window.
Jackson Gamble and I can't be in the same room together for more than a minute without devolving into a sparring match.
Except for that one time…
But enough about that. Jackson's looking for forever, and I don't believe in love, remember?
Get in. Renovate. Get out. Keep my heart firmly in tact.
Because it's much easier to fix up a house than a broken heart.
Full of humor and dripping with delicious tension, Nailed It proves that every heart can be ready for a little rehabilitation, if only you're willing to open it up.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Ivy is best friends with both Jackson, and his sister. They are almost like family. Almost. Except she has serious feeling she does not want to admit about Jackson. They have a hot history in more ways than one.

Jackson has always wanted Ivy for his own. They have serious chemistry and sparks are always flying when they are in the same room. Now, he has the chance to spend time with her and maybe get her to see him in a new light?

Lots of humor, and very sexy story! I loved the characters right from the get go. I really felt like this was a compelling and interesting story with deep characters. You can actually feel their pain and happiness leap off the page.

Nailed it !
Nailed It - Cindi Madsen

When I read the blurb I developed grabby hands. I'm addicted to the home repair/flip/home shows on TV. A romance about a yin jang couple working to flip a house, woot woot !
Ivy has a bit of career dread going on, she found her college degree didn't get her where she wanted to be so she's bartending aka floating free and untethered. She has commitment phobia from years of watching her mother cling, burn and crash through many relationships. Her childhood was sadly more shattered than nurtured. When she finds that her mother's ex BFF is selling her broken down home, Ivy jumps on her dream of flipping a house and restoring some of her past. The house was one of the few places she had happy memories growing up. Everything is going well until reality smacks her upside the head and she finds that the TV shows lied about how long and how easy it was. Isn't that always the truth of any repair job ? She calls her BFF for moral support. She the BFF, sends her sexy contractor brother over. Great right ? Yeh, well the sexy brother happens to be her ex, and it ended badly. Drama, drama, drama, with this near hate thing happening between them. Ivy has a huge anti attachment thing, he has a want attachment thing, his family wants him to have a wife and babies thing, and there is the obvious attraction that steams the windows. Well it's tangled web they weave.
Ivy was a bit over the top with her rules, and lists. I wanted to shake her, she was being such an idiot.
This guy as hot, kind, and handy < wink >. Over looking her moments of stupidity I enjoyed this book, it made me smile, chuckle and swoon a bit. The characters are interesting and the story was fun to read. I appreciated the author's choice of endings for the characters it wasn't the obvious route, and that made it better. Bravo Ms. Madsen.
