Always a Bridesmaid - Cindi Madsen

This is book #2, in the Getting Hitched In Dixie series.  While each book in this series in listed as a standalone and can be read that way, I recommend reading them in order.  Well worth it if you do.

Violet comes to visit and help her sister.  She has crashed and burned recently with the bad breakup she has just experienced.  Then she meets Ford, and its like she just has to tell herself she is here to recover temporarily.

Ford never expects one woman to knock him off his feet.  Since they have met, he has felt like he always wants to be around her all the time.  Is it turning in your man card if you like being around someone so fun and full of life?

This author is a 1click standard for me, I will be honest about that.  Not since her Taking Shots series have I stayed up and not put a book down. (I surely would love if she wrote more hockey - whoo!) Anyway, this story was full of rich characters with full backstories.  The people in this town are all quirky and interesting to read.  I laughed and eagerly turned the pages.  Excited to see the next installment!  I give this read a 5/5 Kitty's Paws UP!

Just One of the Groomsmen
Just One of the Groomsmen - Cindi Madsen

Addie has always been one of the guys. She is childhood friends with a group of 4 guys (Tucker, Shep, Easton, Ford). They went to college together and live in the same, small town. Tucker is the only one who moved away to be a lawyer for a firm in "the big city" (Birmingham). After a few years, he is back for good, having quit his job.
Shep announced he is getting married and they are all going to be groomsmen in his wedding. I enjoyed the dynamic of the 5 of them and how they all support each other. Addie excels at sports and can beat the best of them at poker. Her dream job is to be a sports therapist for one of the big AL college teams. She worked as a PT in a small office with a sexist asshole for a boss. I had mixed reactions at first- while her family is supportive, they also want her to be more of a girl (whatever). Addie also (IMO) looked down at women who were more feminine. I thought that dynamic got better as the book progressed.
Tucker's obsession with having a certain amount of cash in the bank came from his parent's divorce. However, he never really talked about it with Addie- so you know that was one of the barriers. There was a lot of dancing back and forth between going for it and holding back .
Overall, I really did like this. The small town where everyone knows your business and can be a bit judgey for it, can also be supportive when it's needed. I also really, really liked Lexi, Shep's intended. She easily could have been a bitch, but wasn't and became a close friend to Addie.
I read this for Romance-opoly Spring square Sun track

Country Hearts by Cindi Madsen
Country Hearts - Cindi Madsen

Country Hearts is feel good kind of heartache. Madsen knows how to bring out the smiles even while drawing a few tears. Jemma and Wyatt are life lesson about falling in love. Sometimes the road we choose to ignore can hold a reward we'll never regret.

Contemporary Romance
Country Hearts - Cindi Madsen

Country Hearts is a phenomenal contemporary western romance by Cindi Madsen. Ms. Madsen has provided readers with a well-written book populated with an outstanding cast of characters. Jemma lost her job due to budget cuts and took a temporary position in Haven Lake. Wyatt meets Jemma when chasing his horse and catches up just as Jemma answers the strange knock on her door. Wyatt and Jemma's story is packed with drama, humor, spice and cupids of all ages. I totally enjoyed reading this book and look forward to my next book by Cindi Madsen. Country Hearts is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book that I received from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Release Day Blast - Country Hearts
We're celebrating the release of Country Hearts by Cindi Madsen! This is a sweet cowboy romance from Hallmark Publishing that you won't want to miss!
Country Hearts by Cindi Madsen
January 21, 2020

She shouldn't get involved with the cowboy next door...

Laid off from her teaching job in the city, Jemma Monroe takes a job teaching in a tiny town and rents a house on the outskirts. A visitor soon shows up at her door—a horse. His owner, a handsome neighbor in boots and a cowboy hat, comes by to collect him.

When single dad Wyatt Langford meets Jemma, it’s the first time he feels interest in a woman since his wife left. But she’s his daughter’s new teacher, so they both know they should keep their distance.

Nonetheless, Wyatt keeps finding excuses to spend time with Jemma, and Wyatt’s daughter becomes more and more attached to her. With them, Jemma discovers the good things about country life, from starry skies to s’mores cooked over a fire. But she still misses her past life in the city. Is there any reason for them to dream of a future together?

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Jemma has an upheaval in the middle of the school year. Luckily she ends up in the most heavenly small town. When she meets her neighbor, she decides he must hate helping her.

Wyatt cannot believe how attracted to his daughter's teacher he is. He knows she should be off limits. She is not planning to stay, either. If he could just turn the attraction off enough to be just friends.....

This story just grabbed me from the start. The characters are witty, charming, and seriously attracted to one another! With this story, I eagerly turned the pages. Humor, surprises, and even bits of whimsy appeared.

Cindi Madsen is a USA Today bestselling author of contemporary romance and young adult novels. She sits at her computer every chance she gets, plotting, revising, and falling in love with her characters. Sometimes it makes her a crazy person. Without it, she'd be even crazier. She has way too many shoes, but can always find a reason to buy a pretty new pair, especially if they're sparkly, colorful, or super tall. She loves music and dancing and wishes summer lasted all year long. She lives in Colorado (where summer is most definitely NOT all year long) with her husband, three children, an overly-dramatic tomcat, & an adorable one-eyed kitty named Agent Fury.
