She does it again!
vannacht ben je dood - Viveca Sten

Once more Viveca Sten wrote a great page-turner.

And this one has to be awarded five stars (again) in my opinion. The story is good and the plot is quite different again from her former books.

This is book #4 of the Sandhamn series, and again we get some continuing story lines from the previous books about the private lives of Nora and Thomas, but you can read this book apart from the others without any problems. But if you are going to read them all, read them in sequence.

This time the story is set in the circles of an elite corps of the Swedish army. And this time I found it very difficult to guess anything at all of the outcome, although we get all the necessary information in the course of the book.

This time, again, there are chapters now and then of which the connection with the main plot is not obvious at first. In this books they are diary notes, written by one of the characters in the book.

There really is great progress in the writing skill of Viveca Sten, when you read the series from #1 on. In the former book, or definitely in this one, her writing has developed completely and we can expect only high quality novels from her in the future. Great reading and great plot.

BookADayUK Day 18, 19: Coming of Age, Seafaring Novel
De scheepsjongens van Bontekoe - Johan Fabricius,Suzanne Braam,Dick de Wilde
Java Ho! - Johan Wigmore Fabricius Java Ho! - Johan Wigmore Fabricius

The first one is easy: Daron again. See Day 14.

Seafaring Novel: De scheepsjongens van Bontekoe.

It's been years since I read this, but I loved this as a kid and it's pretty much the perfect seafaring novel, as far as I am concerned. My cousin recently hooked me up with the English translation, named Java Ho! and I am looking forward to reading that. maybe i'll try reading it to my son. It might be right up his alley. I'll keep you posted on the quality of the translation.

Excellent Summer read
I de lugnaste vatten - Viveca Sten

The debut novel of a Swedish lawyer. It is a good detective story, and it also includes something of the daily life of the main characters. Although the outcome is not very surprising, I guess you will not be able to predict the whole plot.

I can recommend this novel, of which have been sold almost a million copies worldwide, warmly for your holidays!

Cell #8
Uitlevering - Anders Roslund

An excellent thriller and an excellent plea against death penalty. One can give very little away without making telling everything.  What the sleeve notes tell already is the following: A man is arrested in Sweden for an assault. The investigation shows that he used a false identity. He appears to be a convicted murderer who died during his stay in Dath Row in Ohio, USA. The questions that come up, and are answered, include the following: How can a dead man show up alive? Is it possible to escape from Death row, if you are dead and buried? Was the man in Stockholm guilty of murder? Can he be extradited to the US, being officially dead and if so, does Sweden extradite persons that are to be executed in the coutry they are sent to? Is the man arrested in Stockholm guilty? Will he be executed? And so on. The book tells the story very well and answers all questions. It is very well written and an extremely good read. There are enough twists and surprises, up to the very last page!

Finally!
The Letter for the King - Tonke Dragt

One of my favorite children's books has been translated! And just in time to read to my 9 year old. I'm having this shipped from England as we speak. Apparently the translation is supposed to be good. It'd better be. If this is another Crusade in Jeans: http://lenalena.booklikes.com/post/467700/post I may have to kill someone.
