We Meet Again
Rogue Spy - Joanna Bourne

This is my first book by Joanna Bourne, and I'm glad I've been collecting her books in my tbr pile. She's an excellent writer, with that rich voice I love so much in historical romance. Her characters are complex and the romance drew me in and had me holding my breath. I loved Pax! Cami was a singular heroine, lethal in her own right. This is also an excellent spy novel (I love genuine spy stories).

Definitely recommended!

Overall rating: 4.5/5.0 stars.

My Dear Heart
The Accidental Countess - Valerie Bowman

As much as I enjoyed the first book in the series, The Unexpected Duchess, I loved this one even more. The author's take on Shakespeare's "Twelfth Night" and the engaging comedy of manners humor, along with a sighworthy romance, really won me over. I'm looking forward to Jane and Garrett's story next. They really strike sparks off each other. Definitely recommend this series!

Overall rating: 4.5/5.0 stars.

Take a chance on me
Season For Desire - Theresa Romain

This is my first read by this author, but I like her style. She has a good voice and her characters are distinctive, not the cardboard historical romance characters that can make books seem samey. I'll definitely read more of her books.

The Duke's Shotgun Wedding by Stacy Reid
The Duke's Shotgun Wedding (Entangled Scandalous) - Stacy Reid
Victorian Era England...

As far as rash decisions go, it was formidable. But Lady Jocelyn Rathbourne's will remains strong. If the only way to save her family's estate and reputation is by aiming a small pistol at the Duke of Calydon, then so be it. For Lady Jocelyn demands satisfaction - and she will have it at any cost. Even if it means demanding the hand of the intense and foreboding Duke himself...

But she's made the first move against a very dangerous opponent...

For Sebastian Thornton is no stripling to be trifled with. The lady has played her hand. Now it's his turn. For Sebastian is in need of a wife. And to find a wife with spirit and fire - even if she means to only marry for his money - would be a great prize indeed. And he intends to thoroughly take his pleasure with her... and demands his own satisfaction in return.

Review

This is a charming quick read by a debut writer. The heroine is determined and the hero is jaded and let the fun ensue.

There isn't a lot to this novella but the Reid has a promising voice and I am excited to see what she might be able to do in a longer format.

I was given this book for my honest review. So, there you have it.
