Just starting…
The Slow Regard of Silent Things: A Kingkiller Chronicle Novella (Kingkiller Chronicles) - Patrick Rothfuss

I almost never read the shorter works in between the main books of a series.

But, the third Kingkiller book is has had so many years of mythical release dates I'm not sure it's ever coming out.  And this short work  is about an intriguing character.

Probsbly the only necessary to series short work I ever read was the short story prequel to Patricia Briggs' Alpha and Omega books.

Reading progress update: I've read 1%.
Lightspeed: Year One - George R.R. Martin,Stephen King,John Joseph Adams,Robert Silverberg

Not that I needed another bunch of short stories to read in between new books—but, once again sucked in by the list of authors involved.

Plus, I really like the concept of compiling a whole year's worth of a magazine into a book.  I'm little late to discover Lightspeed but starting last year have been enjoying my subscription.

Reading progress update: Read “Some Desperado” by Joe Abercrombie in "Dangerous Women"
Dangerous Women - Jim Butcher,George R.R. Martin,Gardner R. Dozois,Diana Gabaldon

Nope; this story seemed like a jillion other westerns to me.  Grimy desperado on the run at start and finish with some violence in between.  Big whoop.  I just really loathe most westerns.  Not even going to rate this story.  I really thought this collection was all fantasy and science fiction. What a letdown.

Review of "Capitol Magic (Fright Court #1.5, Jane Madison 3.5)" by Mindy Klasky
Capitol Magic - Mindy Klasky

I enjoyed the book. It is an 88-page novella/short-story type of thing (which I don't usually care for). Kind of a snippet of two characters guaranteed to be trouble, Sarah from Fright Court and Jane from Magic and the Modern Girl, Girl's Guide to Witchcraft, and Sorcery and the Single Girl.

I suspect readers not familiar with the characters would not enjoy. I read kindle version which has about 70% story and then extras including generous excerpts from author's other books.

Very unlikely to be pivotal to either character or series.  But some funny moments making it worth the read.
