Zoe Hart owns the coffee shop in one of the hottest upscale resorts in Florida, run by her childhood best friend, Dylan Jackson. Even though Dylan is a workaholic, he still finds time to enjoy the beautiful women who pass through his hotel all of them except Zoe. She has been in love with Dylan for years without him noticing.

But with her thirtieth birthday fast approaching, she realizes she can't keep pining away for a man who doesn't show the merest sign of romantic interest in her.
When Zoe launches her plan to shed her tomboy image in Dylan's eyes, she's thrilled once he starts to notice her in a whole new way.

But she'll have to face the risk that seducing her best friend might come with lasting changes to their longtime friendship...

O-kay, So I read Keeping it Hot three times and I'm still bouncing between rating it three and four stars trying to figure out how I really feel about it.

There are times I really love both Zoe and Dylan, and there were times Zoe annoyed the crap out of me and times when Dylan pissed me the hell off. Other times they redeemed themselves through the bond they shared in their friendship which I actually felt was better than their relationship after Zoe had to change everything about herself to win Dylan's heart.

I'm usually a fan of romances that have that right in front of you realization thing going on but circumstances that bring the h/h together and how its handled can vary on whether the book is a win or a lose for me.

This is where I had trouble because I didn't think Zoe should have had to go to such extremes to catch Dylan's more intimate attention however their romance was quite steamy once I got past all of that.

Still there was some turbulence in the back of my mind that Zoe's new look wasn't all quite her real self and should have been seen by Dylan if he really wanted her that way before all the change she made to herself.

Keeping it Hot is an entertaining read and the first book of the Breakfast in Bed series. If you haven't read it yet I recommend it.

Wishing For Us: A Danvers Novel (Danvers #9) by Sydney Landon
Wishing For Us: A Danvers Novel - Sydney Landon

Since the loss of her fiancé, Lydia Cross has refused to allow herself to feel anything close to love. That is until corporate hotshot Jacob Hay comes to her aid outside of the Danvers International corporate headquarters and captures her attention.

Too bad he doesn’t show any signs of reciprocating her feelings.

Things change when, after a rowdy Vegas bachelorette party, she wakes up next to Jacob...as his newly wedded wife! Lydia is stunned, but Jacob seems remarkably calm and isn’t inclined to end their hasty merger. In fact, day by day he gives her everything she’s been missing—especially in bed.

But when the magic of Sin City fades, Lydia grows concerned she’ll find herself alone once again.

If you don't want a mild spoiler don't read this review.

Miss innocent who has had little, done too little and stuck in insecurity land due to her lack of sexual experience longs for a "real man" to rock her world and erase everything she regrets for her except when she decides to say the hell with scruples until reality catches up to her and she gets more than she bargained for.

It cracks me up how Lydia gets stuck in neutral demands all of Jake's time and can't deal with any of the slightest doubt yet when confronted by his baby mama shes all for it and uppity with it all. She loves how he's a total 'bad boy' and preset for sex yet she cant even say the word because of how innocent she is.

The story and the characters go from sincere to silly quite often which can get distracting at times but there's moments that kind of balance those periods out because there is actual heart at the center of it all and really it boils down to Jake's daughter.

The baby mama drama and Lydia accepting that Jake has priorities that are outside of her got a little old and a little annoying after awhile but is their hurdle to over come in order for them to find a middle ground in their new relationship.

There are certain lines and moments I really loved that really spoke honestly about what Jake and Lydia were going through but a lot of it didn't really feel organic to everything that was going on.

That all aside I kind of really liked this story but I wish we had gotten a more visceral honest exploration of how traumatic Lydia's loss was on her and how much Jake felt becoming a father was for him.

Wishing For Us: A Danvers Novel
Wishing For Us: A Danvers Novel - Sydney Landon A person's ability to expose themselves in their weakest moments is a sign of true character. Perhaps that's what I enjoy most about Ms. Landon as an author. Her knack of humanizing moments of triumph, heartache and showing how some of life's worst moments can become the most rewarding. I received a copy of Wishing for Us in exchange for an honest review. I'm bummed that I discovered the Danvers almost too late. Their devotion to each other whether family or friend is uplifting and the sparks they set off as they find love is irresistible. Jacob's wake - up call came in the form of a trip to Sin City. A trip to Vegas brings a tempting opportunity for a woman afraid to risk her heart and maybe the love of a lifetime for two surprise spouses. The beauty of getting to the end, is that there is always a chance to start over again.

Aidan
Aidan - Sydney Landon As sure as the sky is blue, there are bumpy roads on the highway of life. Ms. Landon powerfully drives that point home in Aidan. Aidan Spencer has seen his share of heartache and betrayal, yet nothing prepared him for the fear of falling in love. It had to be good for me to finish in one day. Not only does Sydney Landon create a poignant love story. She tackles an emotional subject that is a global problem. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Aidan is the second novel of Ms. Landon's that I have read. Sometimes a person has to face the ugly to appreciate the beauty. Hats off to Sydney Landon.
