REVIEW BY MERISSA - Tricked Into It (War Of The Myth #3) by Miranda Grant
Tricked Into It (War Of The Myth #3) - Miranda Grant

@MirandaCGrant, #Paranormal, #Romance, 4 out of 5 (very good)

Tricked Into It is the third book in the War of the Myth series, and we get Charlie and Jack's story. Charlie is a human being held captive by Sebastian, her son, Tony, being used to ensure her compliance. Jack is Jack, the ultimate trickster with a secret and a heart of gold, even though he hides it well.

I found this to be extremely well-written, with Charlie's emotions when rescued being spot on. As a mum, I would have tried anything to get back to my child, which is just what Charlie did. Jack does what he can, bending the rules where possible, to help her. He is fighting a losing battle with the 'thing' inside him, and now finding Charlie, he feels like he is losing it.

As always, the characters are brilliant. I did take some time to reconnect with them as it has been a while since the first two books came out. This just meant that I got to learn their witticisms and quirks all over again, which is not a bad thing in my book.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story AND the epilogue. If I had anything 'bad' to say it would be that it finished all too quickly for my liking. It certainly left me with questions unanswered! Definitely recommended by me.

* A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book, and the comments here are my honest opinion. *

Tricked by Kevin Hearne
Tricked - Kevin Hearne,Luke Daniels

This review can also be found at Carole's Random Life in Books.

I liked this book. I do have to admit that it was not my favorite book in the series so far but it was still good. This is the fourth book in the Iron Druid Chronicles which is a series that really has to be read in order. I have found the entire series to be rather entertaining and this book was no exception.

The book started out really strong. Atticus needs to disappear so a plan is developed to make sure that everyone thinks he is gone for good. I really enjoyed the parts of the book that dealt with Atticus and Granuaile leaving their old life behind. Atticus finds himself owing Coyote a favor which Coyote cashes in quite wisely. Coyote is such a sneaky character which I find a lot of fun.

I will say that this book felt a bit uneven to me. There were parts of the book where I was hanging on to every word because I was totally into the story. There were other sections that I wanted to drift off so I had to focus so that I didn't miss something important to the story. This was never a book that I didn't like but I did find a few sections to be a little slow.

Luke Daniels continues to do a fabulous job with this series. I really could not imagine experiencing this series in any other way. He is the voice of Atticus but he also is able to encompass all of the other characters. I think that my favorite voice is probably the one he uses for Oberon. It is really quite brilliant. Luke Daniels has quickly moved to the top of my list of favorite narrators and I can't wait to listen to him bring the rest of the series to life.

I would definitely recommend this series to others. I think that it is a really well-done series filled with great characters and exciting situations. My rating of this book is really closer to 3.5 stars and I did enjoy it quite a bit. I can't wait to see what happens next in the series!

Initial Thoughts
I am not sure maybe 3.5 stars? I am going to have to think about whether to round up or down a bit. I liked this one but I liked parts of it more than others. I felt like I was a little more prone to my mind wandering while I listened to this one than the previous books in the series. There were some things that happen in this one that I feel will have a significance in later books. The narration was fabulous as expected. I look forward to reading more from the series soon.

Tricked by Kevin Hearne
Tricked - Kevin Hearne

Series: The Iron Druid Chronicles #4

Tricked was a fairly enjoyable read, although the explanation for the giant locusts doesn’t really fly. I took a long break in the middle (due to reading schedule necessity not boredom) so I’m not sure what else to say about it.

Booklikes-opoly Turn 26 (July 3rd)
Tricked - Kevin Hearne

I landed on Main Street 10 last turn and I tried reading Tricked by Kevin Hearne but I'm not seeing much time being spent in a small town. The characters pass through a couple of possible small towns but they don't spend much time there and it's not clear (to me at least) which ones are supposed to be the small towns. I have several books in my TBR pile that take place in small towns but few if any in the U.S.A. Oh well.

I'm not giving up on Tricked, but since I don't feel like I can count it for my last square and I'm allowed to roll again today, I'm just going to go ahead and roll. And try to fit all these books in somehow. I have my Free Friday read still on the go too.

So,  pagecounts that end in 1, 9, 2, or 6. Hmm...this is easier with  paper books, none of which I have with me. Maybe I'll see what my mom has or wait till I get home later today. With ebooks, I'm never sure whether to go with the pagecount on my ereader or the official pagecount for the edition listed somewhere or what. Maybe if I find a good fit I'll write up a rationale.

By the way, this has been how I've been keeping track of which squares I'm landed on since the shake-up:

Simple but effective.
