BURN (The Dark in You Series Book 1)
BURN (The Dark in You Series Book 1) - Suzanne Wright 3 stars

"I learned a lot about you. For instance, I learned that you're responsible for the breakdown of an ex-boyfriend's bank account-"

"Allegedly."

"-that you hacked a human police database and messed up their filing system when your friend was unjustly arrested-"

"Hearsay."

"-that you beat up a male demon who hurt your cousin-"

"I have an alibi for that."

The Sweetest Burn
The Sweetest Burn - Tavia Gilbert,Jeaniene Frost
Broken Destiny, Book 2

I Picked Up This Book Because: Continuing the series

The Characters:

Ivy Jenkins:
Adrain:
Jasmine, Zack, Costa

The Story:

Ivy is on her second hunt for a super powerful relic that will seal all the walls to the demonic realms. Demons and minions are fought, betrayals happen (not from Adrian, thank goodness), near death experiences, revelations upon revelations, soul tethering and smoking hot sex all ensue.

I liked this story but it didn’t keep my attention like the first one. I’m anxious to hear the next chapter however my library is not cooperating.

The Random Thoughts:

BURN (The Dark in You Series Book 1)
BURN (The Dark in You Series Book 1) - Suzanne Wright So. Fucking. Good.

I want a Knox of my own and I want to be Harper when I grow up. Her attitude and abandonment issues really meshed well here. And Knox was insanely hot and totally alpha.

The drama and suspense were written with a deft hand and the world building was just enough to get my head in the right atmosphere without being distracting.

I'm so happy to see this isn't a series that focuses on new characters with each book. You hook me with the baddest motherfucker on the planet, I wanna stick with it and see more.

Grabbing the next book tomorrow... Er, later today when I wake up because holy shit it's 3:30am and I literally did not put this book down for anything. Now that I think about it, my neck hurts and I need to pee really badly.

Highly recommended, adding it to my favorites, and now I gotta goooo!

Ashes to Ashes by Jenny Han and Siobhan Vivian Review
Ashes to Ashes - Jenny Han

Goodreads Synopsis: New Year's Eve ended with a bang and Mary, Kat and Lillia may not be prepared for what is to come.

After Rennie's death, Kat and Lillia try to put the pieces together of what happened to her. They both blame themselves. If Lillia hadn't left with Reeve... If Kat had only stayed with Rennie... Things could have been different. Now they will never be the same.

Only Mary knows the truth about that night. About what she is. She also knows the truth about Lillia and Reeve falling in love, about Reeve being happy when all he deserves is misery, just like the misery he caused her. Now their childish attempts at revenge are a thing of the past and Mary is out for blood. Will she leave anything in her wake or will all that remain be ashes?

Review:

I really liked this book but hated the ending! (we’ll get to that).

So at the end of the last book Reeve and Lillia were fine and happy but suddenly in this book they weren’t together and were avoiding each other. We never found out what happened between them! I can see how finding out about Rennie could have put a spanner in the works but why did they not just agree to be friends? I guess we’ll never know.

It was really sad what happened to Mary but messing with Kat getting into college was just plain mean. I know she’s a ghost and wasn’t really thinking straight but she then became the bully. What she was doing to Reeve was awful!

I enjoyed this book but what was that ending?? They literally could not have summed up the rest of the story any worse! So Mary spends the whole book hell bent on getting revenge on Reeve, but then she sees him bleeding out and suddenly has an epiphany that her killing herself was actually her fault. Okay I would get over that sudden change in attitude but then she just disappears! no apology for nearly killing them all or even a heartfelt goodbye, just poof!

Thats not even the worst part, they then give us a glimpse into the future and not only are Lillia and Kat not even really friends anymore but her and Reeve aren’t together!! He didn’t get to play football and she settled for Alex, what?! How does that in any way make sense? This has to be one of the most unsatisfying endings to a book ever! I just can’t wrap my head around how the authors thought that was a good idea.

Overall I really enjoyed the series but I have to admit that ending left a sour taste in my mouth. Not cool.

Fire with Fire by Jenny Han and Siobhan Vivian Review
Fire with Fire (Burn for Burn) by Han, Jenny, Vivian, Siobhan (2013) Paperback - Jenny, Vivian, Siobhan Han

Goodreads Synopsis: When sweet revenge turns sour… Book two of a trilogy from New York Times bestselling author Jenny Han and Siobhan Vivian.

Lillia, Kat, and Mary had the perfect plan. Work together in secret to take down the people who wronged them. But things didn’t exactly go the way they’d hoped at the Homecoming Dance.

Not even close.

For now, it looks like they got away with it. All they have to do is move on and pick up the pieces, forget there ever was a pact. But it’s not easy, not when Reeve is still a total jerk and Rennie’s meaner than she ever was before.

And then there’s sweet little Mary…she knows there’s something seriously wrong with her. If she can’t control her anger, she’s sure that someone will get hurt even worse than Reeve was. Mary understands now that it’s not just that Reeve bullied her—it’s that he made her love him.

Eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth, burn for a burn. A broken heart for a broken heart. The girls are up to the task. They’ll make Reeve fall in love with Lillia and then they will crush him. It’s the only way he’ll learn.

It seems once a fire is lit, the only thing you can do is let it burn...

Review:

Okay this book was WAY better than the first! There was definitely a John Tucker Must Die vibe that I really enjoyed.

First things first, we all knew that Lillia was going to fall for Reeve, am I right? Yup saw that coming a mile away! Haha. I felt sorry for Reeve, he could be a real jerk but he was actually a good guy once you got to know him, so of course i fell for him too.

I was kind of confused about Alex and his relationship with Kat. Yes he was pining over Lillia but i thought from the first book that he also had feelings for Kat but nothing came of that? It was like the authors were going in that direction but changed their minds.

Things really hit the fan at the end…there was the big reveal, *spoiler* Mary was dead! I kind of suspected as much but I thought maybe I was jumping to conclusions as I couldn’t understand how Kat and Lillia could see her. That explains the powers though. And Rennie!! That was one turn of events i did not see coming!

This story is definitely out there but I really enjoyed reading it and can’t wait to see how things turn out in the next book.
