THE GHOST CLUB: NEWLY FOUND TALES OF VICTORIAN TERROR by William Meikle
The Ghost Club: Newly Found Tales of Victorian Terror - William Meikle

The Ghost Club: an informal gathering of the literary icons of the Victorian Age. The price of admission...a dark tale told by each member.
William Meikle has not only offered up 14 lost tales by this illustrious group, he has done something that raises him to a "Victorian Voice" in his own right, and surely an honorary member welcome to his place with them. No author has the talent to give voice to the dearly departed quite like Mr.Meikle. The man has a full blown author seance in his head. He even gave me pause with authors I consider myself wholly familiar with.
THE GHOST CLUB more than earns it's place next to the classics on any horror purist's book shelf, William Meikle has earned a place with the authors of those classics.
A magnificent collection of dark delights.

Highest possible recommendation.

Many thanks to the fine folks at Crystal Lake Publishing for the chance to read and review the e-arc. You've all outdone yourselves.

The Final Reconciliation - Todd Keisling
The Final Reconciliation - Todd Keisling

So, as a fellow metal-head, I feel a kindred spirit with Todd as he unfurls The Final Reconciliation, a story about a journalist who is interviewing Aidan Cross. Cross is an aging guitarist who is institutionalized for going off his nut over the tragic show his band played 30 years ago. Aidan was the guitarist of the prog-metal band, The Yellow Kings. After hardcore touring in support of their EP, the band lands a two-album deal and head to Los Angeles to record their official first record. After a show in Texas, they pick up a groupie named Camille, who was waiting behind the club for the band. She immediately takes a shine to their lead singer, Johnny. Soon, the band learns that Camille is not your ordinary groupie trying to sponge off the band in hopes that they'll be famous. No, she has a different agenda and the band are simply pawns in her evil plan.

The Final Reconciliation pulls out it's inner Lovecraft and marries it with story about a heavy metal band. Metal bands have been influenced by all things macabre and Lovecraft is a favorite of many, i.e. Metallica. Keisling has done his homework. As someone who knows a thing or two, not much more, but a thing or two about metal bands, touring, and recording, he executes the story flawlessly. This is where so many writers can go astray - writing about something that they don't know enough about and the cracks show. This isn't the case here. Kudos to Keisling. Not only did he get his facts right, but he delivered one hell of a story, in the process.

Is love strong enough?
My Exception (My Escort Book 2) - Kia Carrington-Russell,Ashley Patterson

This is the continued story for Damon and Clover from the My Escort series. This book can be read as a standalone, but for reader enjoyment I recommend reading this series in order.

Damon and Clover have been dating and working together.  They are very happy and totally in love.  Now, someone from Clover's college days comes to work with them and shows an interest in her, throwing off the dynamic that was created.

Hayden is sincerely a good person and has a history with Clover.  He knows her well, knows her family, and makes her feel positive about her life.  Damon is jealous of anybody who can be a threat to their relationship and takes this more seriously.

Clover is in love with Damon and does not see anyone else.  She is friends with Hayden, but honestly loves her man.  When rocky times hit their relationship it is a test of whether what they have is strong enough to get through.

A sincerely great story with honest and strong characters.  I was impressed with the sincerity and development.  It was a really great read!  I give this story a 5/5 Kitty's Paws UP!

Slow burn
My Escort - Kia Carrington-Russell

Clover hires Damon to be her escort to a work function.  He is surprised she seems to let her boss walk all over her.  He quickly notices she is jealous of Clover since her husband is attracted to her.  Damon explains to her she is beautiful and smart and deserves so much better.

Damon wants to get to know her better.  He has never wanted that before.  There is so much about him that she wants to learn.  He is so mysterious.  He asks Clover about her likes and choices.  He gets that she want to write and asks why are you still a personal assistant then?

Clover has started to feel more for him than she has for any other man.  She has forgotten about the person she used to be.  She is smart and worth it.  Not sure where to go from here she figures she will look into other opportunities.

Damon intrigues her and makes her think more seriously about her career and future plans.  They are a good couple together.  The chemistry is starting to heat between them.  I cannot wait to see the next installment!

Such a sweet and gentle burn.  It is a story that makes you root for the lead character and yet, at the same time you feel for the male lead too.  I was impressed with the book and how it sucked me in where it was hard to put down.  I give this story a 4/5 Kitty's Paws UP!
