Es gibt Bücher, die wandern bei mir erstmal aufs Stille Örtchen und liegen dann dort manchmal wochen- oder monatelang.
Oh, nein, nein - das ist keineswegs als Abwertung gedacht! Wo hält man sich denn jeden Tag mehrmals auf und hat immer mal wieder ein paar Minuten Zeit und Ruhe, um ein Buch aufzuschlagen? Genau! Und deswegen eignet es sich so gut für Bücher, die man nicht in einem Rutsch durchliest, sondern Stückchen für Stückchen.
Meist sind das Bücher zum Schmunzeln und Lachen, und so ein Buch ist auch "how to speak emoji".
Das Buch beginnt mit einer kurzen Einleitung und ein paar grundlegenden Tipps zum Thema Emojis, gefolgt von einem kleinen Lexikon der gebräuchlichsten Symbole. Den Hauptteil des Buches macht dann der Sprachführer aus, der in verschiedene Kapitel wie "Erste Schritte", "Lockere Sprüche" oder "Notfälle aller Art" unterteilt ist. Bei manchen "Übersetzungen" musste ich grinsen oder sogar lachen, andere fand ich etwas zu offensichtlich und daher nicht so spannend. Die meisten sind in meinen Augen aber doch sehr einfallsreich, und es hat mir daher Spaß gemacht, immer mal wieder in dem Buch zu blättern.
"how to speak emoji" ist vielleicht kein Buch, das das Leben verändert oder das man unbedingt gelesen haben muss, aber es ein netter Stimmungsaufheller für zwischendurch und sicher auch ein nettes Mitbringsel oder kleines Überraschungsgeschenk. In dem Sinne:
Schaut doch einfach mal rein in das Buch!
Fazit:
Es gibt wohl kaum einen Menschen, der noch nicht mit Emojis, den putzigen Smilies aus Japan, in Kontakt gekommen ist. Fred Benenson spricht in der Einleitung seines Buches davon, dass Emojis eine spannende Entwicklung in der modernen Kommunikation darstellen - vielleicht noch keine richtige Sprache, aber doch etwas, mit dem man erstaunlich komplexe Dinge sagen kann.
Natürlich ist der Sprachführer nicht ganz ernst gemeint, sondern lädt vor allem zum Schmunzeln ein, wenn zum Beispiel Zitate von so unterschiedlichen Menschen wie Martin Luther, Franz Beckenbauer oder Heidi Klum in Emojis übersetzt werden! Ein witziges kleines Büchlein für zwischendurch.

Why to use emoticons when shelving and reviewing?
Emotion statuses and emoticons won't replace full length reviews, they can, however, complement the text with an enjoyable mood addition.
Some scientific surveys revealed that our brain reacts likewise when we see an emoji and a human face -- this means we pay the similar degree of attention to the smiley face as we do to real face. And attention is what we wish for when we write or share the book news, right?
What's more, emojis tend to enhance our memory skills and have a highly positive influence on getting the message across -- they make a happy news more enjoyable and negative more approachable.
Being just an addition and another mean of conveying the message, emoticons can be a fun supplement to your texts, and a way of expressing yourself and how you feel about your books. In a short and tips-like manner. Why not? :-)
