Eat Like You Give a Fork
Eat Like You Give a Fork - Mareya Ibrahim
I'm middle of the road on this one. Why? Because I am a picky eater, I admit it. I don't want to give this book a 5 because there is nothing in this cookbook I will eat, nothing, yet this book is a nice one, if you eat this stuff.

My aunt likes to get vegan and she would love this book and a few of my kids like to eat these foods so they would love to try a lot a few of these recipes, so this book would be great for them but me, not so much. So why did I get it? I picked it up at the library as it looked appealing. Look at the cover, those dishes look fantastic. I thought I would just look through it and see what recipes and ideas were inside.

So what did I see inside that I might tempt myself with? Chicken Sausage, Spelt, and Pepper Skillet - this picture looks fantastic with the dark colors of the mushrooms, tomatoes, onions, and the colorful peppers. Yum- yet, I would have to try Spelt. Then, we have Smoky Veggie, Jackfruit, and White Bean Chili. This looks chunky, hearty and tempting. But, what is jackfruit? I think I would do this one with all the veggies in this chili. I keep coming back to the Overstuffed Sweet Potatoes with Chipotle-Lime Yogurt- these potatoes look beautiful. Black beans, yogurt, ghee, sweet potatoes, chipotle chile powder, etc.

This book is not all about recipes either, she has lots of information about eating healthy. Lots of articles to read before you dive into the strategies and then, articles in each of the 8 strategies that include her recipes. There are not pictures for each recipes but there are a lot of colorful pictures in this cookbook. There are serving sizes with each recipe but not nutritional value information. There is an index at the back This is a nice cookbook that will lay flat on a table, if need be. Check it out if this type of food grabs you as it really has some interesting recipes and articles.

Knife and Fork (Chapter Books Book 7) - Gita V. Reddy

Knife and Fork by Gita V. Reddy
This book starts out with the monkey and he travels to the city where Lily adopts him. She is able to train him to use a fork and knife like humans.
Like comparisons between the monkeys and humans habits. Story also goes beyond that to when he returns to the forest. The other animals want to go to the city also and they don't want to hear what that's a bad idea.
He was not always welcomed there himself. They take his utensils and he goes off to live by himself. Like the ending and didn't see it coming.
Other works by the author are highlighted at the end.
I received this review copy from the author and this is my honest review.

Hygiene...You Stink! -3rd grade reading level (according to author)
Hygiene... You Stink! (Building Relationships) - Julia Cook,Anita Du Falla

Hygiene..You Stink!, written by Julia Cook, is a book about a fork named Jean. Jean goes through many trials and decides that since she is a stainless steel fork that she does not have to "take a bath", or "brush her teeth", among other basic hygiene needs. She is eventually told how important it is to take care of herself and how taking a bath and brushing your teeth can help you do that. This is a great book to help incorporate health into your reading curriculum. This would be a great lesson that you can do as a shared group reading and writing lesson. You can introduce the topic of hygiene to the students and then proceed to do a picture walk and then read the book. After reading the book you can then give each child their writing journal and allow them to write what they learned about hygiene from Jean and why they think hygiene is important. I would recommended this book, for kindergarten through third grade. Again, this is a great way to incorporate health curriculum into the class.

Knife and Fork by Gita V. Reddy
Knife and Fork (Chapter Books Book 7) - Gita V. Reddy

Knife and Fork by Gita V. Reddy is an educational book with important lessons. I gave it four stars.

Bholu was a monkey who left the forest for an adventure. He went to the city and learned how different it was with cars & buildings. There was no fruit on the trees for him to eat.

He watched a family eating with strange objects. He learned they were called a knife and fork. He went down to help himself to some mango. When the little girl returned she screamed & he leapt up to the wall and continued to use the knife and fork to finish the mango. Then she laughed and her mother peeled and threw him a banana. He cut it into slices with the knife and ate it with the fork. He ate all the food they gave him with the utensils. Then he stored them in a hollow of the tree.

He realised that in the city, all the buildings seemed alike and he didn't like the noise and smoke from the vehicles. He went back to the forest and shared all his adventures with the other monkeys.

I received a complimentary kindle copy from the author. That did not change my opinion for this review.
