“People don't know what they're made of until they're tested.”

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

Wow! This book was really something. There was so much drama I didn't know what to expect next. And I honestly have no clue how to even begin to review this because...well...So. Much. Happened. Since there are already an abundance of detailed reviews out there I will keep this one short.

Sam is a teenaged girl who's entire life seems to be turned upside down. Her mother is divorcing her father--a man that coaches the football team at her private school--and now she finds herself being forced to move in with her mother and her mother's new boyfriend--the wealthy father of the notorious bad boys Mason and Logan who go to public school. Which means that Mason and Logan will now be her stepbrothers. This is where drama will ensue and where she ends up lusting after her stepbrother Mason. Yeah, I know that's quite a bit to take in, but that is just the beginning of this book.

I honestly didn't think I would have enjoyed reading something like this, and I'm pretty sure that did because I could not for the life of me put this freaking book down. Samantha was a pretty cool chick, well, until she wasn't. Then she was plainly annoying and so damn frustrating with how she reacted to things and behaved. Then there was Mason. He was so intimidating and so sexy I was helpless to him. I totally fell in love with this guy. Logan, Mason's brother, was also all kinds of awesome and funny. I loved that he spoke his mind freely. Both boys were also quite the rebels and I'm not gonna lie, they were also a bit scary. Still, I couldn't help but like them.

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

“In that moment, I realized that he always had that affect on me. The ice façade I reined over myself was plucked away whenever his attention was on me. He reached over and took it away like I was a baby with candy.”

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

I very much liked the slow burn between Sam and Mason and how they eventually became so much more. I do wish there would have been a bit more focus on the relationship between so that I could see that relationship grow more. But, like I mentioned before, there was so much freaking drama with the secondary characters and the main ones that it was freaking crazy. The gossip mill, holy freaking gossip mill. Some characters I liked, others I didn't. Some I hated and liked at the same freaking time. There was freaking backstabbing, jealousy, and cattiness. There was drama between Fallen Crest Academy and Fallen Crest High that Sam somehow got involved in. It was just utter craziness but I couldn't stop reading.

Overall, it was a very interesting book to put it mildly. I can definitely see this book as being one you either enjoy or really hate. I know this one won't be for everyone. Mainly because of the many eye rolling and immature moments this book contains, and of course the drama. But I liked it. It kept me captivated until the end. It wasn't perfect and didn't always make sense, partly due to the editing of this book (like seriously someone needs to get on that pronto). But, I think this was a solid 4 stars. I can't wait to get to the crazy experience I'm sure book 2 will be.

Thin Love by Eden Butler
Thin Love - Eden Butler

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

“This is always, Wildcat. You...you're my always.”

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

Kona Hale is a college football player working his way into the NFL. Unfortunately, his skills on the field aren't the only ones he is famous for. He is also known for his womanizing ways. When he is partnered with Keira for a project, he thinks he can charm her into doing what he wants but she is not easily swayed, in fact, it seems she can't stand him. Keira is trying to make it through her years of college without upsetting her mother too much, by appeasing her when needed. She is also still quite affected by the death of her father years back. The only way she has to connect with him is through music. She knows what Kona wants, and she doesn't want "thin love" which is only lust. She wants "thick love" that will last and she knows Kona can't give her that.

Kona is determined, no matter how selfish it may seem. When they finally get together it's dangerous and frenetic. They get consumed but what they feel and it can be a scary thing. Especially when they both have problems when it comes to dealing with their tempers. They are both broken by it. But this is also why they get each other so well. They push and pull each other, hurt and heal each other. They have become addicted to one another. Their relationship may not be a healthy one but they can't seem to stay away. That all changes by one event where Kona pushes her away for good and causes their hearts to shatter.

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

“I will haunt you, Kona. When you think of me, see my face, hear my name, you’ll only remember that I loved you. You’ll remember that my love for you was never thin. You’ll remember this moment because it will be the biggest regret of your life.”

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

Sixteen years later, fate brings them back together again. They still have strong feelings for each other after all these years. And this may be the chance Kona needs to make things right with Keira again.

This is one of those books where I ask myself 'why in the hell hadn't I read it before?', but I am so glad that I finally did. It was a page turner that's for sure. I didn't want to stop reading it, and when I did, I kept thinking about it. I was completely engrossed by this book. Oh, the angst...I keep telling myself I won't read books with too much angst but I guess I'm glutton for punishment because I keep doing it. I just can't help it. And this drove me completely off the wall with frustration. The relationship between Kona and Keira was an intense one. I would get so damn upset, and angry with them both. Then there were moments that freaking melted my heart. I was all freaking over the place. I wanted things to work between them so bad, that when it didn't, I was a frightful mess and I'm sure there might have been some snot running down my nose from all the tears. Yeah...it was not pretty.

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

“This time when you walk away, I won’t let you stay gone. This time, Wildcat, I’ll follow.”

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

Their journey was a long one and it was definitely not an easy one, but I loved it! Kona, that lovable idiot, was a possessive alpha and very caring which earned him a spot in my heart. Keira frustrated me but I still managed to really like her. They were both immature when they were young which makes sense with how old they were. So, it was great to see how much they had grown since they were nineteen and twenty years old. I was glad how I was really able to feel the connection that they shared. Which is why I was an emotional wreck from this roller coaster ride. I felt everything they were feeling. Their chemistry was explosively hot, something I highly enjoyed. I just plainly loved this book and I can't say it enough. I can't wait to read Ransom's book next. I am hoping it will be equally as amazing as this one. So, go ahead and give this book a read, if you haven't done so already. But, ye be warned, the angst is crazy high.

“Want you,” I whisper.

Lately those two words define me.

“Have me,” he says.

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

Jamie Canning and Ryan Wesley use to be attatched to the hip. They met at a Hockey summer camp on Lake Placid as kids and became the best of friends. As they grew up, the closer they got. When they were both eighteen, they got a little drunk and they made a bet that changed their friendship. Next thing Jamie knows, Wes completely shut him out of his life, and he doesn't know what went wrong. Wes has been in love with his straight best friend for quite a while. That night they shared tortures Wes. He feels responsible for pushing Jamie into doing something he probably didn't want to. As a result, he lost his best friend and he will always regret that.

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

'Our mouths fit together so perfectly. Every time we kiss, I fall even more in love with him, and it has nothing to do with sex or lust. It's him. His closeness and his scent and the way he soothes me.'

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

Fast forward four years, Jamie is now a coach for the hockey summer camp. He is also doing really well in his college hockey team. He may soon be getting a second chance with his best friend when he finds out his team and Wes's will competing in the same championship. Wes is a star player in his college hockey team and life is pretty good. He has come to terms with his sexuality. He no longer hides it but he doesn't flaunt it either. Now that he has the chance, he wants to make things right with Jamie. He wants to apologize and hopefully become friends. He will try to put his feeling aside in order to get Jamie any way that he can, even if it's just as friends.

These two were awesome! I loved their banter, it was really entertaining. You could feel how close they once were. I loved that the past was mixed in with the present in the form of flashbacks. It was done very well. It also helped me connect with them a whole lot better. This was a friends to lovers story which I am totally a sucker for. Not to mention a second chance at romance. I love the connection between them. I really loved Wes and was very happy when he decided to coach along side Jamie at the summer camp. The tension was crazy good. Don't even get me started on the steam...scorching hot! *fans self*

“You really do love me, huh?”

“Always have. Always will.”

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

I loved the pace in which their relationship developed into a more romantic one. There were so many moments that this story made my heart melt and swoon. This book was not just purely sex, there were so much more it. The emotions in the book made things intense and passionate which I really loved. My heart broke and swooned and did all these dances at what was going on. They were just so adorable and perfect together. And the humour was pretty great as well. Then that ending was so awesome! It left me with a feel good vibe. Overall, it was really great read. It wasn't too angsty or too dramatic, which was nice. It was cute and steamy and definitely something worth reading.

“A champion is someone who gets up when they can’t.” - Jack Dempsey

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

Emily's life has been anything but ideal. Her past has left her deeply scarred and with a fear that the man that caused her so much horrific pain will find her again. Despite her being an introvert and highly skittish because of those events, she is determined to make something of her future. She excels when it comes to math. So she works hard to keep a roof over her head while getting her degree. It's a great thing that happens when fighter Corman O'Connell comes into her life. Cormac has been attracted to Emily since he first set eyes on her. He will do anything to get Emily to notice him. Right off that bat he notices her jumpy behaviour. He wants to help her become free of the darkness. He wants her to let her hair loose, stop worrying, and just be happy being herself. He won't stop until she does, and hopefully she'll let him give her his heart.

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

'She was my peace, my inspiration, my motivation, and my reward. She was my salvation. The center of my fucking universe. I was going to conquer the whole world and lay it at her feet. It was the least she deserved.'

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

This book was so freaking awesome. It started off really good. I loved Emily, even though she appeared weak on the outside, she had a quiet strength to her that really intrigued me. I was glad that she found a friend in Nikki, who was the total opposite of her. Nikki helped Emily come out of her shell a bit. I loved watching her slowly blossom. I definitely loved reading about her friendship with Cormac turn into so much more. It was just so sweet, and the steam was very good.

Cormac totally stole my heart. He was so freaking perfect. He was this gentle giant at heart that made me swoon so freaking hard with the things that came out of his mouth, both beautiful and dirty. He was also a smoking hot alpha. I loved how possessive and protective he was of Nikki. He was a perfect balance of caring, sexy, and domineering. I loved his cocky attitude and his relentlessness where Emily was concerned. I was seriously addicted to seeing these two fall for each other.

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

'Time was the only thing that would bring back the pieces of my soul, but I had the feeling that O’Connell might turn out to be the glue that held them all together.'

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

This book was so much more than just sex, and the sex was really hot. But I just fell in love with the story and connection these characters shared. Cormac's upbringing hasn't been the best either. Because of this they both understand each other, and all they want is to see the other happy. While I enjoyed the story, there were a few parts that were a bit predictable and very few that were slow. Other than that, I didn't really have any problems. I LOVED the secondary characters, and the freaking banter...so good. Tommy and Kieran were the freaking best. I seriously hope they get a book. The ending was great, but I mostly loved the epilogue which was in Cormac's POV. Overall, it was a great read. I definitely recommend this one.

THE SONG OF DAVID by Amy Harmon
The Song of David - Amy Harmon

♥ ♥ ♥ 4.5 STARS ♥ ♥ ♥

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

"I watched Millie because she fascinated me. She was a brand new species, an intoxicating mix of girl and enigma, familiar yet completely foreign. I’d never met anyone like her, yet I felt like I’d known her forever.”

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

The Song of David tells the story of David "Tag" Taggert. If you have read The Law of Moses then you will be familiar with who David is. This story is about Tag being mysteriously gone and no one knows where he has gone to. Moses receives a call from the young woman Tag fell in love with named Millie. While Moses tries to find Tag, we end up finding out how Tag came to fall in love with Millie.

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

"The most intimate things we can do is to allow the people we love the most to see us at our worst. At our lowest. At our weakest. True intimacy happens when nothing is perfect."

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

The story was told in a very original way. It was told in Moses and Tag's POV. I will admit that at first I wasn't too fond of having Moses' POV because I didn't understand how he could help tell Tag and Millie's story. But as the story progressed I found it really grew on me, and was necessary to know what going on in the present. As well as having Tag's POV through his audio recorded tapes that he had left Millie about their past. I was actually looking forward to the recordings because I loved reading how the relationship between Tag and Millie progressed. Millie is blind, but she was strong and confident of herself. I really liked that about her. She was also a dancer at Tag's bar and took care of her autistic brother Henry, who also took care of her.

The story was written very beautifully. It did take me a while to get into it, but once I did, I couldn't put this down. I loved Tag, Millie, and Henry. It was very sweet and at times heartwarming. I liked their story but it also had a very sad tone to it, I just knew something bad was going to happen next. My emotions were everywhere while reading it. I got so freaking teary eyed and emotional, I just couldn't help it. I really connected with these characters and felt all of their pain, and their happiness. By the end, I was glad to have Moses' POV for giving us a deeper insight as to who Tag is. I also really loved Henry, he added so much to the story and made my heart melt at how much he cared and loved wholeheartedly.

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

“If heaven was the octagon, then she was my angel at the center of it all, the girl with the power to take me down and lift me up again. The girl I wanted to fight for, the girl I wanted to claim. The girl who taught me that sometimes the biggest heroes go unsung and the most important battles are the ones we don’t think we can win.”

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

There were some issues I had with the book, like the pace of it sometimes felt a bit slow. And the tone might have been too sad for me. I was almost wishing for something happy to happen. I also don't know what to make out of that ambiguous epilogue. I liked the way the book ended, but then that epilogue totally confused me. Overall, it was a really wonderful story and a bit of an emotional roller coaster. It was told in a very unique fashion which I ended up really liking. I loved all of the characters and enjoyed reading about how the romance between Tag and Millie grew. Amy Harmon is quite the awesome storyteller. If you enjoyed The Law of Moses then you should definitely give this book a read.
