Roomies by Lindy Zart
Roomies - Lindy Zart

Well, what a disappointment.

Around 90% I realised that no devirginizing would take place.

I actually read two hundred and thirty pages of pajama descriptions, downright stupid misunderstandings and a so-not-believable dilemma.

Come on, you call this a love triangle? This is child's play. One guy is her long-standing love and best-friend, and the other is his asshat brother, whom she just met! Kennedy tries to appear divided, but honestly, physical attraction doesn't mean she would just ditch the man she has loved for more than a year.

Why drag this on? Why make an entire book about an occasionally funny internal dialogue? There is no romantic interaction whatsoever. That would probably have slightly redeemed the book from its general boredom. But no. Nada.

Conclusion: I have wasted my time.

No Weddings by Kat & Stone Bastion

I won't sugarcoat it. This book was cheesy and full of contradictions.

Hell, when you have a female character who acts like she wants to jump the guy's bones all the time, but then cock-blocks him when it comes to it, the outcome can't possibly be good. Because she's oh-so-damaged. Yeah, all that scandalous flirting is definitely a symptom of heartbreak.

And Cade was so soppy all the time. Either mooning over Hannah or mentally screwing her. And putting up with her bullshit.

I forced myself to finish this. And I did. I made it through the crap thrown in my face. The permanent cold showers. The ONE kiss. The ABSENCE of sex. Which would have been fine, had the sexual tension been believably written.

Nothing happened in this book. The first half was decent. But when the second half revealed to be more of the same, the urge to DNF this book was huge. It was soooo boring.

But I survived to tell you my experience. And hopefully it will lead the stray souls who wish to buy this book back to the right path.

This cutesy thing is a slightly innovative friends-to-lovers kind of romance. Definitely sweet, but it wasn't that exciting... I guess I'm not used to dealing with insecurities that seem to remain unsolved for too long. Honestly, Emilia's friends somehow became irrelevant along the way, with the details blurring completely. For such a short book, there should have been less soppiness and more focus on something other than a painfully static relationship. I mean, they kissed once and they're already dating?

Sorry, but that is not functional.

However, I actually liked the fact that Emmy's character reminded me of myself, with her social networking and book addiction. But mine's not nearly as bad.

Overall, it was a nice book, but it seemed to drag on and on about the same subjects. I also didn't feel very emotionally attached to the main couple and found their arguments a bit repetitive.
