review SPOILER ALERT! 2018-10-06 03:00
Minotaur: Blooded
Minotaur: Blooded (The Bestial Tribe) - Naomi Lucas

My reviews are honest & they contain spoilers. For more, visit:

Minotaur: Blooded is the book 1 of Naomi Lucas’s dark fantasy series The Bestial Tribe. From the title of the story, you should get an idea of what the book may or may not consist of. For me it was more about the blurb. It told me I should check it out. :P I was also in the mood for some... uh, dark and sexy fantasy-type stories. I got a lot more than what I had bargained for.

Minotaur: blooded is my first book by the author. Her other series looks to be sci-fi romance and I have no interest in aliens, much like I have none in vampires and werewolf (or any other shifter romances). I gave some of those a go by various authors at one point or the other, but never could finish any of them. I won’t explain why because this review is about Naomi Lucas’s book so I’ll just get right into it.

When you talk about fantasy/paranormal romances, I’m more of a girl who prefers stories about ghosts and haunting. I’ve read stories about incubus and Fae (fairies) and enjoyed those too. Mythologies are also a subject I’ve always been intrigued about. In the past, I’ve read romances that were rewritten or based on one mythology or the other. It was one of the reasons why I wanted to check out this book. Also, Minotaur, as a whole, isn’t a mythological character (or creature?) that I’m vastly knowledgeable about. I mean, I know what it is...sort of. Mmm. Okay so I did try to google after I read the book and the pictures I saw didn’t help. They’re kinda scary. It should be a challenge in itself to make a hero out of a Minotaur (or part Minotaur here) IMO but the author here tried just that. Whether she succeeded or not is a matter of complete personal opinion.

Monster Porn Monday

Monster Porn Monday ~ You're welcome.

This will be my last MPM for awhile. Can you believe I've run out of monster porn to review? Well, free ones anyway. Or ones with my free KU membership which is expiring soon. I don't pay for monster porn because, well, it's not usually worth it in terms of quality.

Jax

I’m a virgin, but I don’t want to be. I just want to get it over with, so I made a list. I held interviews. (I know, I’m a total Type A.) The winner is Sebastian Rathbone. Grade A Beefcake who plays defense for the Grizzlies’ Rugby team. Manwhore extraordinaire. So basically, a professional.

The problem? My best friend, Matt. For some reason, he wanted me to pick him. I’d never choose him because then I’d fall in love and I remember the hell that was middle school. Now that he’s grown into his head and feet, and he is by definition also Grade A Beefcake, there’s even less chance he’d ever feel more than friendship for me. Why put myself through that? I thought I’d locked all of that away until a game of Spin the Bottle makes me doubt everything. Especially the lie I’ve been telling myself about not being in love with my best friend.

Matt

Sebastian Rathbone? Dude. No way. He’s not a bad guy, but he’s not the guy for Jax. If anyone knows the guy for Jax, that’s me. It hurts I wasn’t even consulted. Actually, what bothers me the most is that she didn’t ask me to be the one. To punch her V-Card, I mean. I’m pretty good at what I do, or so I’ve been told. It should be a good memory. Something special. And lemme tell you, Rathboner isn’t going to make it special for anyone. I don’t like it that there’s this part of her she’s going to give to someone else, but I guess I have to get right with it. I’m the best friend. Not the lover. Except when faced with losing her, I’ll have to take a spin on chance just one more time.

Spin the Bottle (Fast Times at Ridgemont Hall Book 2)Spin the Bottle by Sara Wylde
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This is book #2, in the Fast Times At Ridgemont Hall series. This book can be read as a standalone novel. For reader understanding of the series and to avoid spoilers, I recommend reading in order.

Jax and Matt have been best friends. They are close and tell one another everything. When she tells him she is ready to lose her V card, he loses it. Confesses to her she should choose him. She never thought this was an option and just had not considered this.

Matt is frustrated that Jax has a plan to be intimate with another man. He has been lusting over his best friend lately and feels they need to talk about the options. She just is not in the same place. So he has to have a plan......

This is a fun and quirky approach to the best friends become lovers. Each person is quite independent, and must seriously consider if this is a move they want to make. The characters have good banter, and the book goes at a good pace. If you need to feel good and get a smile, this is the right pick me up for you.

About the Author:

Sara Wylde is the crackfic! contemporary pen name for PNR/UF author Saranna DeWylde. She rather imagines that all the pen names live in the same dorm in her head and frequently have discussions that look and sound something like an episode of Herman's Head.

With Strings Attached (Book 1)

Two’s company…three’s a crowd… Corey Fenwick keeps her bitter past as hidden as the sweet centers inside the handmade chocolates she sells to a growing list of upscale customers. She’s learned that the only person she can rely on is herself, so her best-friends-with-benefits relationship with Matt is perfect—no strings attached. Matt Ferber watched his last girlfriend ride off on the back of a Harley with a rock musician after calling him boring.

He’s resigned to being “just friends” with women, so his arrangement with Corey suits him fine too. Until his old friend Dylan Schell rolls into town to hang out while recovering from a surfing injury. The sexy bad boy surfer makes Corey’s mouth water, and she figures a harmless fling won’t hurt, especially when Dylan suggests she come between him and Matt—in bed. It’s a win-win-win situation…until somehow there are strings attached. And too late they realize they’re getting all tangled up.

With Strings Attached (San Amaro Singles, #1)With Strings Attached by Kelly Jamieson
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Corey has a friends with benefits arrangement with her buddy, Matt. She just does not want him to help her so much that she gets dependent. Why is she okay to have him help her with orgasms and not other things?

Matt and his buddy Dylan are giving Corey a taste of the forbidden. As they explore each other maybe all of them can learn what true intimacy is. Matt is so devoted to all those he cares about. Dylan has a secret that may rock their world.

These characters were up to some pretty hot stuff. I thought the heat was dialing up and up while I was reading. Is it hot in here? Anyway, true to form, this author had me hoping for a cool cloth while I enjoyed the escapades of these three. Start of a great series, cannot wait to read more.

How to Love (Book 2)

The greatest mistakes we make are the risks we don’t take. Ever since Jules’s new neighbor moved in, she’s been undressing him in her mind. Mike is the fresh inspiration she needs to make her erotic photography studio a success, if she can convince him and his equally buff roommate, Carlos, to strip for her lens. And maybe indulge in a little off-camera fun as well. Jules doesn’t do relationships, but she loves men and sex—and in her experience, most men are okay with that.

Judging from the raw emotions in the images in Jules’s gallery, Mike senses there’s a lot going on beneath her flirtatious, slightly cynical exterior. He and Carlos are happy in their committed relationship, but they’ve always felt there’s a piece missing. They want a woman. Jules could be that woman. Jules thinks sex is as intimate and committed as she can get. A threesome with two men already committed to each other is perfect for her—emotionally risk free. But when she learns Mike and Carlos want more than sex, can she open herself to real intimacy and love, not just with one man…but with two?

Slammed (Book 3)

Love’s a wave. And they’re about to get slammed. Brooke Lowry has a mission: fly to Tahiti, pluck PR nightmare Dylan Schell out of whatever party he’s in, bring him home and clean up his image. It was her idea for Jackson Cole clothing company to sponsor the pro surfer. But the chances of saving this deal—and her career—look pretty slim when she finds the sexy party boy “shooting the curl” with two beach bunnies. Dylan is finally getting back on track in his surfing career after a near-death accident.

The next big event would put him over the top…if it wasn’t being held in San Amaro, where he’ll have to watch his best friends Matt and Corey tie the knot and move on without him. What would help? A girlfriend so his friends don’t feel sorry for him. Brooke will do anything to get Dylan back to San Amaro — even be his date for a wedding. But suddenly Dylan finds himself facing a lot of things—his hometown, his past, his fears…and something he didn’t see coming…love.

Patiently
Game Changer - Rachel Reid,Rachelle Goguen

Scott plays hockey and he loves it.  He hopes to do it for a long time.  He is also starting to see how lonely his life is.  It is time he does something about it.  Not lying about who he is might be a place to start.

Kip is a barista who is thrilled to meet someone as hunky as Scott.  Never thought he would see him again, the flirting seemed innocent.  When he starts coming to his shop often, he starts to think there may be more to these visits.

This was a sweet and sassy book about two people meant for one another.  The banter is right on, the pace was nice and steady, and the heat was off the charts!  I loved this book and had a hard time putting it down.  I give this story a 4/5 Kitty's Paws UP!
