THE LONG ROAD HOME: BRODY by Jan Scarbrough
Brody: The Montana McKennas (Montana Ran... Brody: The Montana McKennas (Montana Ranchers Book 2) (Volume 2) - Jan Scarbrough

Rodeo star Brody comes home after 10 years on the road.  Stephanie is still there though he never saw the daughter she bore.  When they meet again, attraction and anger, hurt and hope are all there.  As Brody realizes what he missed he wants it all now.  Stephanie is more cautious.

I liked Stephanie.  I could understand her feelings.  Brody needs a good swift kick in the behind.  As his mother told Stephanie, he was let off too easy 10 years earlier.  I liked the story.  I liked Livy, their daughter.  She is a bundle of energy just like most 10 year olds.  Lori Ann, Brody's ex-girlfriend, was a pain where the sun don't shine.

The story was a little short so everything was speeded up.  I would have liked a longer story as it would have fleshed out a little more of their reunion but I enjoyed the story and the writing was well done.

Giveaway & Review – Unbridled Trails by Bonnie R Paulson @bonnierpaulson @PromoBookTours
Unbridled Trails (The Montana Trails series, Clearwater County Collection Book 3) - Bonnie R. Paulson

I had to share Bonnie R Paulson’s Unbridled Trails because I am in the book…at least my name is. I have to know what happens to Sherry.

.
MY REVIEW

Unbridled Trails by Bonnie R Paulson, is not the first story I have read by this author. I have read her Psycho Collection and loved it, so I thought…with writing like that…I would give one of her western romances a try. Also my name happens to be Sherry.

Sherry is a bug girl, an entomologist, and she does prefer her bugs to people. She has a pet tarantula and I had a chuckle when Kyle and Tommy (the tarantula) met.

Sherry first met Kyle when Guy, a bully predator of the lowest order, tries to drug Sherry at the bar. Kyle swoops in and saves the day. That is when the troubles start for both of them. They are attracted and try to deny it. Their communication skills are a bit lacking but they slowly come around. I loved when Kyle cooked her Rocky Mountain Oysters. LOL How could he be a hero and be so naive and gullible at the same time?

If you have to choose between a big weevil and a small weevel, then choose the lesser of two weevils.

Humor was sprinkled throughout Unbridled Trails, yet a danger lurked in the background, nagging at me, never letting me forget that Guy was still out there…somewhere and wanted a piece of her.

I was surprised at the ending and that is always a good thing for me.

Unbridled Trails is a fast paced, quick and easy read of love, survival, family and romance. Perfect for the summer season while you are lazing around the pool or on the beach.

I received a copy of Unbridled Trails by Bonnie R Paulson in return for an honest review.

Great Story and Characters
Montana D-Force (Brotherhood Protector Series) (Volume 3) - Elle James

Mia hadn’t been home in eleven years other than for a night or two. She had sworn she would never return to her home in Montana but here she was at the house her great grandfather had built. She intended to stay for a month if not longer as she had a script she had a deadline on. Sadie was there and asked her if she was she wanted to spend the night at Sadie’s house as she had been Sarah’s friend when they were in HS. It had been a year since anyone had been in the house. Mia’s parents had died the summer before and Mia had to decide what to do with the house. But she really came her to work out some writer's block as she had a script due to her editor in less than a month. Mia had been raped thirteen years ago when she was walking home from the bus stop after school she had been sixteen years old. Mia had agreed to do a fiction take on that episode of her life. The man who had attacked Mia remained free and anonymous . Mia had told no one of the attack not even Sadie. Sadie’s husband Hank had started  up a new security business. bear/Tate had been injured while in the service and been given a medical discharge from the Army. Swede had also been injured and they had met at therapy and they had become friends. When Hank started his business Swede had recommended Bear. bear immediately went to Montana but the business had just started and the business had finished a job and was waiting for another. Mia had been at the house that night and someone had broken in her door she ran to Sadie’s and Bear had agreed to become her bodyguard under the guise of a handyman to help her fix up the house.  Hank had agreed to start looking into the rape as Mia finally told Sadie about it .

This was a very intense but excellent story. Not terribly long but had everything it needed to make it an excellent read. A lot of action in this and plenty of pain and fear but also determination. Also the healing of a broken woman is included. I loved all the characters especially Bear and Mia and all the twists and turns they had went through. I highly recommend.

I received an ARC of this story for an honest review.

One Night With Her Bachelor (Montana Born Bachelor Auction, #6), by Kat Latham
One Night with Her Bachelor - Kat Latham

"Bid on a date with this wounded warrior for an unforgettable night of adventure. Aim high—and bid higher!—because no one comes close to local hero Gabriel Morales.

Molly Dekker hates being the town charity case, but when her son Josh is seriously injured she has no choice. She lets her best friend organize a bachelor auction to help pay her massive bills and make Josh’s life more comfortable. She can’t bid on any of the men, but a surprise bidder gives her a gift she never expected: a date with the man who saved her son’s life—the only one she’s in danger of losing her heart to.

Former Air Force pararescueman Gabriel Morales made a career of flying to the rescue, until a tragic helicopter crash stole more than his livelihood. Being auctioned off like a slab of beef isn’t in his recovery plan. But one look, one touch and one night unlocking Molly’s pent-up passion makes him realize how badly he needs to be rescued…and how badly he wants to rescue Molly right back.

Will Molly and Gabriel’s never-quit attitude have them rushing head-first into love? Or will Gabriel’s secret pain stall their relationship before it can get off the ground?"

❖ ❖❖

f0105c_d390a82563c36b71e176e ... "You see, Aunt Lily's organizing an auction, and we're looking for the best of the best. Aunt Lily wants you--" He pointed at Gabriel as if he were posing for an Uncle Sam poster. "--to enlist in our bachelor auction."

The words took a few seconds to sink in. His panicked gaze shot to Lily, who gave him a no-one-says-no-to-me grin of satisfaction. "Oh, hell no."

One Night With Her Bachelor by Kat Latham is a sweet and light contemporary romance. I thought initially this was going to be an insta-love/lust type of story, which I am not a big fan of, but thankfully I was wrong. This actually turned out to be a nicely done slow-burn romance. Even though the story is short, only 155 pages, the author does a great job of developing the relationship between the two leads.

All of the characters, from the leads to the secondaries, are well drawn. Molly is a no-nonsense and strong Heroine, and Gabriel is a sweet guy working through some personal issues. Although this is a light story, it does touch upon some deeper, realistic topics. Gabriel is dealing with some PTSD, and Molly is dealing with her son surviving a serious injury.

The only tiny issue I had was with the ending, which felt rushed. I would have liked it drawn out a bit more. However, my understanding is that this is a prequel, or really the foundation for the entire Bachelor Auction series, so maybe we get a little more of these two in previous books.

While this is tagged as Book 6 of the series, it's more like Book 1 so it's not necessary to read the others in the series before this one.

I loved everything about this story. If you're looking for a sweet, sexy, light contemporary romance, then I recommend checking out One Night With Her Bachelor.

Final Rating: 4 stars
