There is a scene where the main character meets an alien. I am not going to tell you what the alien looks like. To me that is a spoiler. My main reason for wanting to read alien books is the way the author tells the fantasy side of the book. This author does a wonderful job of bringing the scene alive. It is such a wonderful part of the book that I feel like I had watched it on a theater screen. I had one point in the book where I was a little confused, but everything has came together. I didn't expect to like this book as much as I do This author has a wonderful imagination. He has done a wonderful job of redeeming himself after what I encountered in the book before the story had even started. I have taken too much time away from the book. Ready. Set. READ!

Finally found the book this morning. I have been want ing to read this since it came in the mail. My husband packed it up not knowing I had agreed to review it. If it is good, I will post a couple updates. If it sucks, I will see you all in about 4 hours to cuss the book out in my review.

Yesterday I was hooked on this book (The Convert's Song by Sebastian Rotella) that I was reading and just didn't want to put it down. So of course I ended up staying up late into the night to finish it even though I had to work today. This is when I really became stupid (or I was in denial) and I thought since I am already up I might as well start this relatively short book that I just bought (Saving the CEO by Jenny Holiday). Of course once I started it I thought I should just finish it. Well I finished it and tried to rationalize my stupidity by saying "well I was off today and got plenty of sleep so I shouldn't need a ton of sleep for Friday." Between my late night reading marathon and my cellphone malfunctioning and waking me up with its screams, I only ended up getting an hour of sleep. I was an exhausted and emotional zombie at work today and have vowed to myself to never do that again. 

Perfect reading weather

It's this kind of evening outside my house tonight too--minus the sleigh and horses unfortunately--so it's a perfect night to be inside in front of a fire place with a pile of books.

The lithograph was created by Frances (Fanny) Palmer (American artist, 1812-1876) and published in 1854 by Nathaniel Currier who later took a partner and formed the firm Currier and Ives. 

"During the late 19th century, it is said that in the homes of most ordinary Americans there were lithographs created by Frances "Fanny" Palmer.  Aside from the drawings, you will see her work on countless numbers of greeting cards, calendars, and in books as the print makers in America loved to use her artwork.  Even though her work was so widely used throughout America, she was ignored by many art historians."
