The Flesh Cartel #4: Consequences (The Flesh Cartel Season 2: Fragmentation) - Heidi Belleau,Rachel Haimowitz

*Book source ~ NetGalley

This is the continuation of Dougie and Mat’s story of how they were kidnapped and sold into sexual slavery. They have begun their training with Nikolai who must mold them into the perfect submissives before they are sent off to their new Master.

It’s not the story, it’s definitely me. I’m just not interested in Dougie and Mat’s dilemma anymore. I don’t know if it’s all the psychological stuff, all the internal debate, Nikolai or it’s just not moving fast enough for me, but I’m done with this series. It’s still well-written with great characters, but apparently my tastes have changed. Don’t let my ennui put you off reading this series.

The Flesh Cartel #3: Choices (The Flesh Cartel Season 2: Fragmentation) - Heidi Belleau,Rachel Haimowitz

*Book source ~ NetGalley

Mat and Dougie have survived (barely) the flesh auction and head to the home of their new Master’s professional trainer, Nikolai Petrovic. Only they don’t know that until they get there. Each brother doesn’t even know where the other is even though they are traveling in the same RV. Is life about to get harder for them? Or will they escape?

I’m not finding this series as enthralling as I did when I started. It’s still compelling and the writing is great, but maybe my tastes have changed. I want the brothers to escape their situation, but I’m not getting much hope to cling to. Maybe that’s the problem. They didn’t sign up for any of this, so I want to see them triumph over the bad guys, but it’s just not happening fast enough for me. If it ever does? I’m not sure. I probably wouldn’t continue except I have the next section from NetGalley. Maybe things will look up for the brothers then.

Too Stupid to Live - Anne Tenino

*Book source ~ NetGalley

Sam is a graduate student, too gawky, awkward and clumsy with an addiction to romance novels. He’s also gay. His past relationships have been crap and his self-esteem is in the toilet. Then he meets Ian. Ian is tall, built like a brick shithouse and not relationship material. Or so he says. But when the two meet there’s something there, something worth exploring if only they can drop the baggage that’s weighing them down and start fresh.

Wow. This is a wonderfully written tale about two men with issues who stumble and bumble their way through a relationship they both want to work but end up with a lot of misunderstandings because of their past issues. However, they don’t give up and eventually they get on the same page. It’s painful to watch and yet it’s also heartwarming. I love this couple! The characters of Ian and Sam are fully developed. The rest of the characters aren’t as real to me, but that may be because the story is told from both Ian and Sam’s POV. The romance is sweet, the sex is hot and at times kinky and the characters are endearing. This is my second read by Anne Tenino and I’m not disappointed.

Frat Boy and Toppy - Anne Tenino

*Book source ~ NetGalley

Brad Feller is a jock at college on an athletic scholarship. Ever since high school he’s been fooling himself and everyone else. He’s lived up to everyone’s expectations of a ladies man and even though he always felt something was different or lacking he never really thought he was gay. Until one day he has an epiphany in the guys locker room shower. From there it’s only a matter of time before he pursues the hot guy that he’s been daydreaming about and eventually comes out of the closet. But it’s quite a journey from Point A to Point Gay.

This is a bit different than I thought it would be. I was expecting a bit of a raunchy M/M college tale and got a sweet M/m romance instead. There’s nothing wrong with that. The story is well-written and the characters are very life-like, but even though it is told from Brad and Sebastian’s POV, it’s Brad that takes center stage. He’s just so freakin’ adorable! I love being in Brad’s head as he tries to figure things out. Like I said, adorable. If you want a sweet M/m romance then this is the one to read.

Wicked Wednesday ~ Book 2
Dirty Deeds - S.E. Jakes

*Book source ~ A review copy was provided on NetGalley for an honest review.

Cillian is a black ops agent for the British government. Deep undercover he runs his ops mostly alone. Mal is a former Navy SEAL looking for the traitor of his former unit. When Mal discovers Cillian is hot on John Morse’s trail he doesn’t know if Cillian is for or against John. All Mal knows is that John must die and anyone who’s in bed with him, too. However, he didn’t expect to start falling for Cillian and Cillian didn’t expect to fall for Mal. When you’re deep in an op starting a relationship is not the smartest thing to do, but Mal and Cillian are used to playing with fire. The question is whether they will get burned and if so, will they live to love another day?

I was completely lost starting this story. The plot is convoluted and I had a hard time following it. There’s a lot of techie computer stuff that’s a bit out of my league, too, but the m/m steamy bits were more than worth pushing forward. Computer sex and hot hard sex in a club back room are all well-done and fan-worthy. *fans self vigorously* As the story moves along some things become more clear, but there’s not as much depth as I would hope and I blame the shortness of the book for that. However, that ending! A holy shit moment for them both and then a cliffhanger. Gah! If you are not a fan of cliffhangers then I suggest waiting until the next book is out or the series is complete. Otherwise, this is a tension-filled thriller with plenty of steamy action that will keep you on your toes.
