Reading Slump

We all have them. I'm definitely in one now. I think it's just I don't want to read the books I have started/need to read right now. Like N0S4A2. Just not in the mood. Maybe I need to read something different to break it up. Not sure what though. It's a conundrum.

Anyway, I don't think I'll be doing bingo this year. I love it, I just can't even THINK about reading books right now. It's a bummer.

Things started out well enough...
Wrecked - B.A. Tortuga,Jodi Payne

and then it just seemed to go sideways for me.

To me this was a story about second chances seeking forgiveness and at the start of things that's what it felt like and than it just turned into this story about a guy recovering from a serious injury and it was all very sweet but somehow...it seemed like things were just going nowhere and while the second chances and forgiveness were obviously given and received...it all started to feel kind of pointless and things just didn't feel right.

So at the end of the day this one didn't work for me and maybe it was a case of the wrong time, wrong story...so lets go with that. This just wasn't the story I was wanting to read and who knows maybe if I'd read it last month or next month I would have loved it but I didn't, I read it when I read it and my mindset wasn't in the right place to fully appreciate it...so it was what it was and things didn't work out for me as well as I'd hoped this time but...there's always next time, right?

A copy of 'Wrecked' was graciously provided by the authors in exchange for an honest review.

Reading progress update: I've read 6%.
Strange the Dreamer - Laini Taylor

Made it thru just fine. I've been up walking. Sleeping over night at a hospital is not fun. They poke and prod you every hour or two for blood pressure or blood sugar or whatever. Luckily I brought ear plugs and a sleep mask so I could block out a lot of the outside noise. They think I can go home today since I'm doing really well.

So me and Felicia the bun bun are just going to read for a while. A blue girl topples from the sky and dies? You have my attention .

Reading progress update: I've read 80%.
Mandie and the Jumping Juniper - Lois Gladys Leppard

I need to rant.

If Uncle Ned is friends with tons of white men, including Europeans and the President of the United States, why on earth can't he speak English properly? Like it's just plain racist.

Same goes for the servants (I keep wanting to call them slaves because that's the way they're portrayed even though slavery was abolished in the late 1800s). They were raised in the houses of white people.

Reading progress update: I've read 1 out of 320 pages.
The Missing Ink - Karen E. Olson

Opening line: "I've made grown men cry."

I like this book already.
