DAWN by Erin Hunter
Dawn - Erin Hunter

Twolegs have been destroying the Clans' homes and they must leave.  Following the five young cats who have returned with Midnight's message they leave and head towards the mountains to find a new home.

There is a lot of action and adventure as the Clans unite to fight the Twolegs and to save some of the Clans.  There is the infighting as the Clans must decide to leave or stay.  Firestar will not leave without all the Clans going together.  Pride gets in some of the Clans' way.  I shed many a tear as the Twolegs are capturing the cats; we are losing some of the older and younger ones; and as we remember those who have gone to the StarClan.  Cloudpaw's warrior ceremony wiped me out.

I cannot wait to see what happens in their travels.

"The Texan", by Ty Patterson
The Texan (Warriors Series Shorts Book 5) - Ty Patterson
Book #5 in the Warriors Short

In this short story Ms. Patterson highlights Roger, one of Zeb Carter’s elite operative. To Texas he goes, he has inherited his foster parents home and farm. He wants to put it up for sale but getting rid of it has many challenges…..

Of course this is a very fast read, not because it is short (80 pages) but because the plot is very well-done and is filled with exciting and intriguing action sequences. This page-turner gives us the opportunity to know more about Roger and what makes him tick. This side story is an asset and complements beautifully the main series, “The Warriors”.

Excellent story and very addictive mini series

"The Man From Congo", by Ty Patterson
The Man From Congo (Warriors Series Shorts Book 4) - Ty Patterson

Book# 4, in the Warrior Shorts

Another short read I squeezed in between appointments 63 pages is definitely not taxing. Each book has snippets into one of Zeb’s team member. This time in a jam packed action adventure is Bwana.

Young girls are disappearing and most are never found again. After rescuing two girls in Paris from a gang, Gwana sets to find those behind the trafficking ring. His quest will bring him to Russia and his tracking will lead him to a familiar place in the Congo.

Great storyline, filled with action and suspense. The plot although too short is strong with vivid scenes. We know a little more about Gwana, this huge and very capable ex-special forces agent.

I am not a fan of short stories but I definitely make exemption regarding Mr. Patterson.

THE DARKEST HOUR by Erin Hunter
The Darkest Hour - Erin Hunter
This ends the first series of the Warrior books. Fireheart is now the leader of ThunderClan. There is a new danger in the woods and not what he expected. As he works to bring his clan together again and discover the new danger to them, he also deals with becoming the leader needed by the clan at this time.

I love this series. Though reluctant to get into the books at first, I look forward to reading more of

I love this series. Though reluctant to get into the books at first, I look forward to reading more of the clans. I needed Kleenex for this one as Fireheart becomes Firestar and goes through the ceremony for that then dealing with those whose lives will end (there is always someone who won't be back) and the betrayals. This is a series recommended by niece and she never gives me a hint of what will happen.

A DANGEROUS PATH by Erin Hunter
A Dangerous Path - Erin Hunter
Tigerclaw has finally gotten what he wants--his own clan. Now Tigerstar, he is the leader of Shadow Clan. He is tearing Thunder Clan apart as the clan tries to rebuild after the fire (see book 4.) Fireheart is having problems as the deputy of Thunder Clan. Bluestar is not well and has lost faith in Star Clan. Fireheart knows how bad it is for the clan and now there is more darkness in the forest that seeks to destroy Thunder Clan.

I love this series. As I get further into the story I get sucked in the books and want to know what will happen. Now truths are being publicly revealed. Loyalties are being tested and strained. New problems are arising. What is the sense of keeping your clan's secrets when full disclosure would help all the clans?

This series is well done and will hold the interest of all readers regardless of age.
