Warriors: Power of Three #5: Long Shadows - Erin Hunter

Sol has a grip on ShadowClan and it causes Tawnypelt to leave them and come to ThunderClan where her brother, Brambleclaw, is deputy. Jaypaw, Hollyleaf, and Lionblaze know that something must be done to break Sol's hold on the Clans and keep four Clans. While dealing with this, greencough is going through ThunderClan as well as fire. Then when it looks like ThunderClan will make it through all this, a deeply held secret is revealed. What happens now?

There is a lot going on in this book. Jaypaw, Hollyleaf, and Lionblaze are in the middle of it all. I think I know the secret but I guess I'll have to read the next book to find out if I am right. This is the first book that has that big of a cliffhanger. I found Jaypaw's one dream very interesting. I'd like to see where it will go and will the extent of Jaypaw's powers as well as Lionblaze's seeing the spirit of Tigerstar ever by revealed.

I love this whole series. This one is my favorite.

Sol, an outsider, comes to ThunderClan. Jawpaw believes he has to do with the prophecy dealing with him, Hollypaw, and Lionpaw. Suddenly, after a visit by Sol to ShadowClan, Blackstar comes to say that ShadowClan no longer will come to the gatherings. What is going on? Are the Clans at an end?Why does Lionpaw have dreams as vivid as Jaypaw?

This was so good! Even though I'm an adult, I am enjoying this series so much. I cannot wait to read the next book. Of course, I got emotionally in the aftermath of the battle (there is always a battle) and I know there will end up being another battle before the end of this particular series. I love these characters. I love the story. I get so caught up in their lives. Erin Hunter has done what I want an author to do--take me out of my world and put into the book's world. And this series does it every book.

Now the grandchildren of Firestar are getting old enough to leave the nursery and become apprentices. Lionpaw is happy being a warrior. Jaypaw is not happy with his mentor, Brightheart. Hollypaw learns she is not cut out to be a medicine cat. After some thought Hollypaw admits it. Jaypaw is not happy but after sharing dreams with Spottedleaf he realizes his calling is to be the Clan's medicine cat. Jaypaw does not yet realize the gift he has but others do. What is happening within the Clans?

I enjoyed this new series. This book sets it up wonderfully. I feel a connection with Jaypaw. I realize he is angry, bitter, and so sure everyone sees him as useless but he has a gift that will help not only ThunderClan but all the Clans. I cannot wait to read the next book in the series. I want to know what journey StarClan will send Firestar's grandchildren on and who else will be going.

TWILIGHT by Erin Hunter

The Clans are still settling into their new homes and problems are developing between those who feel the Clans should still help one another and those who believe there were always four Clans and each Clan is responsible for itself. There is also the visions that the medicine cats are receiving that none can interpret. They can see blood and violence but not the who or why.

I did not cry as badly in this book. Probably because the battle scene was interrupted by my having to close the book to get off the bus in the middle of the battle scene which was towards the end. I still teared up though. This story is more of Leafpool and her feelings. It also shows the resentment Clans have towards one another but how it is necessary at times for them to help each other. And the battle still rages between Clan born and kittypets. Midnight makes another appearance. I like the respect shown to her. The bond between those who traveled to the sun-drown place is still strong but fraught with problems because of the division of the Clans. A surprise appearances occurs.

I enjoyed this book. I look forward to the next book. I want to know about Leafpool's one vision. What does it mean for the future? And why the appearance of an old friend?

Twolegs have been destroying the Clans' homes and they must leave. Following the five young cats who have returned with Midnight's message they leave and head towards the mountains to find a new home.

There is a lot of action and adventure as the Clans unite to fight the Twolegs and to save some of the Clans. There is the infighting as the Clans must decide to leave or stay. Firestar will not leave without all the Clans going together. Pride gets in some of the Clans' way. I shed many a tear as the Twolegs are capturing the cats; we are losing some of the older and younger ones; and as we remember those who have gone to the StarClan. Cloudpaw's warrior ceremony wiped me out.

I cannot wait to see what happens in their travels.
