Book Review - Tempted by Love by Melissa Foster
Tempted by Love: Jack "Jock" Steele (The Steeles at Silver Island Book 1) - Melissa Foster

Theirs was such a beautiful story to be told, their love felt so right and so real that it really moved me, and still does. Jock is in a heartbreaking dilemma of needing to let go of the past demons to enjoy the feelings he is learning to have for Daphne. When something feels really right you throw caution to the wind and go further than you every thought you could, to do whatever it takes to make it happen and that's exactly what happens with Jock. Daphne, a devoted single mom, doesn't believe she can possibly be beautiful in anyone's eyes but Jock is determined to make her believe she is the most precious person on earth. Swoon!

absolutely loved the banter between them, full of innuendos, and how they both felt so nervous not knowing how far to stray from friendly banter to something far more real. Melissa had me feeling every part of their emotion, the happy and the sad, they were so perfect together that it flew off the pages and embraced me as I read.

A great introduction to the new series and a new bunch of loveable characters to enjoy who amplified the cool, fun, welcoming vibe that the Bayside gang bring to a story. There's no forgetting the star of the show, adorable little Hadley, oh my, oh my, oh my, this little three year old completely stole my heart, she melted me everytime she called Jock 'Dock' and when she spent time with our Bayside canine Cosmos!

I honestly found myself smiling and laughing throughout the book, it was such an uplifting read. But then there was 'that' tension in the story ;-), which I actually found myself feeling really excited about, knowing that it would only be overcome by hitting the problem head on.

The impact from part of this story (I'm not putting in a spoiler sorry!!) was immense, it threw me off guard and took me a few moments to get back on track. This was such a moving romance with hard edges of life's problems to tackle, but once they were removed the full softness and beauty shone through and the glow actually stays with you even after you've finished.

Dating the Prince of Darkness has its challenges....

Leila's psychic abilities have been failing her, and now she isn't sure what the future holds. If that weren't enough, her lover, Vlad, has been acting distant. Though Leila is a mere mortal, she's also a modern woman who refuses to accept the cold-shoulder treatment forever - especially from the darkly handsome vampire who still won't admit that he loves her....

Like choosing between eternal love and a loveless eternity....

Soon circumstances send Leila back to the carnival circuit, where tragedy strikes. And when she finds herself in the crosshairs of a killer who may be closer than she realizes, Leila must decide who to trust - the fiery vampire who arouses her passions like no other or the tortured knight who longs to be more than a friend? With danger stalking her every step of the way, all it takes is one wrong move to damn her for eternity....

This series is in the same world as the Night Huntress series. You can read the Night Prince series without reading the other, but I highly recommend reading Night Huntress first. Many previous characters come to visit Vlad and you can understand their relationships more if you have had the pleasure of reading the other first, but Night Prince can stand on its own.

Now, I read Twice Tempted when it first came out in 2013. I LOVED it! I devoured each book as they came out, but then the fourth and final book came and I never got around to reading it. When a series you love comes to an end it’s hard to finish that last book, but now I’m going to, so I’m going back and listening to the series for the first time to refresh myself.

*****

Twice Tempted is book two in the Night Prince series by Jeaniene Frost. We continue where Once Burned left off.

Lelia and Vlad are having problems. She feels that Vlad doesn’t want her anymore; because her powers are lost or maybe temporarily lost. No one knows! Vlad tries to show her he wants her, but the way he does that leads to a huge embarrassing moment and they break up.

What does she do? She stands her ground and when Vlad doesn’t give her what she needs she leaves and returns to Marty and the circus, but things soon go bad when someone tries to kill her. From there we are on one wild and crazy ride where Lelia try’s to figure out who wants her dead and in the process try to avoiding Vlad; which is an impossibility. The forces working against these two is a mystery throughout the story. It keeps things off-kilter and interesting.

We get a little cameo appearance of Cat. I love Cat and Bones.

Twice Tempted doesn’t disappoint. Theirs no shortage of emotional turmoil, action, suspense, mystery, surprises, and steam.

Narration: Tavia Gilbert continues to do a spectacular job. I love her voices for all the characters; especially Vlad and the story and plot come to life. You feel for Lelia in this one. I highly recommend the audiobook for the Night Prince series.

Tempted Beyond Relief: An Alpha Hero & Curvy Heroine Standalone: Wylie & Rhea (Far Too Tempting Book 2) - Christa Wick

I love Christa Wick. She refuses to be put in a box. Rhea and Wylie are evidence of what it means to love. Tempted Beyond Relief takes readers into the riskiest moments. Shea and Wylie are proof that out of the hardest times, beauty can find a way to grow.

One More Sleepless Night by Lucy King
One More Sleepless Night (Mills & Boon Modern Tempted) - Lucy King

She's going to take her life back... one sizzling night at a time! It used to be Nicky Sinclair's nightmares which kept her up all night; those 3 am silences were her worst enemy. So now she's following doctor's orders – rest, relaxation and plenty of therapeutic Spanish sunshine. Only she hasn't counted on sharing her tranquil retreat with her best friend's brother Rafael, whose presence is anything but peaceful! With his beguiling eyes and smoldering smile, he quickly becomes a very welcome distraction. After all, if she's struggling to sleep, why not find something else to do with her time..?!

Goodreads.com

On doctor's orders, 29 year old Nicky Sinclair, photojournalist and creative, adventurous, globetrotter type, takes a trip to Spain to try to relax and hopefully experience a break from her insomnia troubles of late. With help from her best friend, she lands a nice place to stay. Just as she's getting comfy though, there appears to be a second, unexpected tenant ... Rafael, the brother of Nicky's best friend!

After a misunderstanding involving a pan swung at Rafael's head and some expected arguing back and forth about who has rights to the vacation spot, they settle on a way to share the place. No surprise, Rafael has a flirty side to him that he just can't help but shift into. He has a corporate job he takes very seriously, but having casual hookups with pretty ladies is how he lets off steam on his off-time.

Nicky admits she appreciates the look of him, but claims her sex drive has puttered out. Rafael claims he sees her as a sexy siren but she snaps back she's "about as attractive as a sack of potatoes". If that doesn't dissuade him, she has her grandmotherly way of speaking that ought to seal the deal ... "Heavens!" "My goodness, me!" When she really lets her true emotions fly, Nicky admits she did "ogle his bottom". The minx! LOL

There's a period where Rafael seems confused with what to think of her or how to act, claiming "should've realized there was something not quite right with her", even going so far at one point as to call his lust for her an "aberration".

Odd pairing, these two, for sure. But not in a cutesy, "isn't it great when opposites attract" way... this reader just did not click with this pairing. They had the ideal setting, just not that great a story or character development between them. The dialogue was also pretty cliche for much of the book, which distracted from the plot's potential momentum. It had its fun moments, but Rafael came on pretty strong and Nicky flip flops on what she thinks she wants.... that dynamic sometimes works in romance stories but here the balance felt constantly off just a hair... enough to make the whole thing a bit of a flop.

It's decent for a light and breezy poolside read, but don't expect too much more from this one.

Once She Was Tempted by Anne Barton
Once She Was Tempted - Anne Barton

Benjamin Elliot, Earl of Foxburn, will do anything to prevent his best friend's younger brother from falling into the clutches of a fortune huntress. Which is what Miss Daphne Honeycote seems to be. Because Ben knows she's not the ethereal, innocent beauty everybody sees. Nope, Ben knows very well, what she hides underneath her clothes, because proof of it hangs in his study.

When her mother was ill, Daphne made a choice. She chose to pose for two rather scandalous portraits in order to get the money for her mother's medicine. Now that choice has come back to bite her in the form of the Earl of Foxburn and his blackmailing scheme; leave his friend's brother be or he'd reveal the truth.

But soon Ben becomes her ally, since Daphne has no idea what has happened to the other portrait, and Ben realizes his altruism toward his friend's brother was rather bogus. He wants Daphne for himself.

Yet another wonderfully told story. A little bit darker than the first book, mostly thanks to the hero and his broody, ornery, stubborn self, yet still packing quite a punch, even without the star-crossed lovers theme.

I loved Daphne. She might look all fragile and carefree, but inside, where it counts the most, she hid her worries and her pain, not letting anyone see it, until Ben came along.
Ben became rather annoying toward the middle, with his whining and feeling sorry for himself. I'm all for wounded, brooding heroes, I even adored his brutal honesty, but I couldn't stand his self-pity and pushing people away. And he almost succeeded in pushing the most important person away for good, only to pull his head out of his ass at just the right moment for everything to work out just fine. I wouldn't have minded a little bit more grovelling on his part, though.

The baddie was your regular spiteful asshole with a grudge, the bitch from the first book returned with a vengeance and once again failed to do any lasting damage, the supporting cast was perfectly placed and "proportioned", I was glad for Belle and Owen, I loved the character of Lady Bonneville and I hope to see more of her in the next two books, although I'm dreading the next installment a little, since it features more of Olivia, Huntford's slightly too self-centered sister (I'm growing tired of her droning on an on about her James).

This was a lovely story about self-discovery, courage and changes one is capable of under the right motivation.
