Tangling with a White Wolf—Best Christmas Ever, or Real Trouble?

Romance writer Candice Mayfair never missed a deadline in her life—until an accidental bite from a werewolf puppy turns her into an Arctic wolf shifter. She's forced to isolate herself in the wilderness to cope with her unpredictable shifting while she works on her deadlines. After all, for Candice, Christmas is just another day.

Enter private investigator Owen Nottingham, a wolf shifter hired to find Candice so she can collect her inheritance. They have a real problem: she must arrive home in human form, and that's not happening during the full moon. Besides, Owen has a new mission: to convince the pretty she-wolf her best move is to join his pack in time for Christmas...and to prove he's the only wolf for her.

Dreaming of a White Wolf Christmas is book two in the White Wolf series by Terry Spear. It’s part of her bigger series Heart of the Wolf.

The characters featured in Dreaming of a White Wolf Christmas I remember reading about them in Legend of the White Wolf and of corse they popped up again in another installment in the series, so I have some familiarity with them.

This novel was on ok read. It didn’t wow me or pull me into it. Everything was simple and happens very quickly. The major setup happens in the fist chapter, making it feel rushed. The tone of the book is light. Only touching upon things that should have more importance. For example; the introduction to our heroine and hero, is rushed. We don’t get much depth for the characters. Which made me not fall for them or be invested in them. They where just their.

The romance between Candice and Owen has just a little spice and sweetness. The sweetness was just a little too sweet and so the descriptions got to be a bit repetitive and straightforward.

As for the world building. I’ve always had trouble understanding it. Reading in order would be best, but even then I’m still confused. At the start of the series the world doesn’t know about shifters. They also live very very long lives, but then things kinda change on how long they live, but they are still in hiding from humans. I have always felt like the author wasn’t sure on what direction she wanted to go. Things kinda change suddenly on the life span for the shifters and we still don’t know why this is.

After reading Dreaming of a White Wolf Christmas I’m kinda questioning what I saw in Ms. Spear’s wolf series. From what I remember in the earlier books they use to have more depth to the characters and more action, suspense, a dilemma they had to over come, a bad person after them, or some kind of mystery to solve, so that things actually felt like something was going on, but now it feels blasé. From now on if I do pick up Ms. Spear’s I’ll be grabbing the books from my library instead of purchasing. This series and author have lost their appeal to me and I no longer have a big interest in the writing.

Great Story and Characters
Flight of the White Wolf - Terry Spear

Gavin was a PI who had been a Seattle cop before he was a PI. He was also an artic shift shaping wolf. He and his fellow PIS had been bitten and turned. Gavin hated flying as he had been in an airplane crash when he had traded places with a very pregnant woman and had been taken hostage at a jewel heist. But Gavin had to sometimes fly for a case. Eleanor Dylon was a cosmetic heiress and she says she is sure her husband is cheating on her but he has to be caught so she could start a divorce and keep all her inheritance. Her husband Conrad was going on a company canoe trip and all provisions were being provided. So Gavin had to fly in and catch Gavin . Gavin and his fellow PI’s had a thriving business going. Eleanor said gavin had to be the one to take this case as she had looked into him and said gavin had an outstanding track record. Gavin’s pilot ended up being Amelia as her father had to take out a different group. Then the plane malfunctioned and crashed. But before it sank they got out and some provision even a big Saint Bernard pup. Gavin couldn’t believe he had been in a second plane crash. Then he realized why the other woman looked so familiar  as she was the one flying the plane in the first crash. Gavin doubted Amelia but she also doubted him but soon they believed each other. Gavin also found out Amelia was white arctic wolf and was born a shape shifter and was called royal as was her family. There was a strong attraction between Amelia and gavin. Soon Amelia said she would be Gavin’s P I assistant.

Excellent book and I loved it. I loved the plot and the pace and the paranormal part and didn’t want to put this down. This kept my attention form the first page until the last. I loved Amelia and gavin together . I felt this was a well written white arctic wolf romance with just enough intrigue and drama added to it. I love Terry Spears novels and this one didn’t disappoint. I hope to read many more. I loved the characters and the twists and turns in this book and I highly recommend.

Early Review! Flight of the White Wolf (Heart of the Wolf #24 / White Wolf #3) Terry Spear
Flight of the White Wolf - Terry Spear

Stranded in the wilderness, these warring hearts will be forced to work togetheror die together.

Gavin Summerfield
an arctic wolf shifter with a fear of flyinghas to fly into the vast lakeland wilderness of northern Minnesota to track down his suspectwhere his ability to shift will come in very handy. Imagine his chagrin when his pilot turns out to be the woman who tasered him last time they saw each other. Things are off to a rocky start...again.

Arctic wolf shifter Amelia White isn't entirely displeased to see Gavin again, but priorities shift when their plane is sabotaged and goes down in the middle of nowhere. As their attraction grows, Amelia hopes Gavin doesn't discover the secret she's been keeping...she knows he could never forgive her...

Terry Spear is at it again with another werewolf romance that had me soaring through an adventure filled romance.

Gavin and Amelia are electrifying characters that grab reader’s attention and refuse to let go. Their relationship is full of strong and hot sexual tension, emotional pitfalls and thrilling danger. The couple has to make decisions that affect their personal as well professional lives and that will of course impact their families and friends which adds lots of depth to the story and has readers holding their breath in anticipation of their happily ever after decision.

The suspense builds throughout the story as twists and turns keep readers as well as Gavin and Amelia guessing as to just who the enemy is and what their true motives are. This fast paced plot is full of adrenaline pumping adventure and thrills including plane crashes and really keep readers on edge and has just enough super sweet moments to keep the heart well satisfied as well not to mention makes the readers fall for the characters even more.

Terry Spear brings the wonderful Heart of the Wolf series which includes the White Wolf series, the Silver Town Wolves, the Highland Wolves and the Billionaire Wolves, to brilliant life with well written words, vivid imagery and fascinating characters that all keep me coming back for more. It is a favorite of mine and I always love becoming immersed in the stories as they unfold and I found Flight of the White Wolf to be one very spellbinding read and since I just can’t get enough, I can’t wait to read the next one.

Flight of the White Wolf is the 24th book in the Heart of the Wolf series & the 3rd book in the White Wolf series.

great story, great characters
Dreaming of a White Wolf Christmas - Terry Spear

Owen was an Arctic wolf and a Private Investigator/ P I. Hed knew that the white wolf he had seen across the river wasn’t one of the Arctic wolves which had changed him and his friends. Five years ago Owen and his P I partner david was out hunting for bear. David had a heart attack neither Owen nor the guide they had hired could help david way out in the woods. The wolves wouldn’t have bitten David if owen hadn’t asked for the guides help. They had bit David to give him their enhances powers to repair his heart or David would have died. Owen was bitten because of what he had seen without paying the consequences- become  one of them or die. After that the pack took them in , they had to because Owen and David had no control over shifting Owen wanted to find the other arctic wolf it could mean he or one of his bachelor male buddies could have a mate. But he couldn’t find her as she was with friends and he didn’t know which female was the actual werewolf. Then her and her friends took a canoe trip after a couple of days and Owen never knew what became of her. Owen finally opened a new P I shop in White River Falls. Minn. He was eager to make a go of it. Business again after seven years of working online. Every  since  that day in the woods Clara had been a whole different person with her world turned upside down. Her friends were no longer her friends, and her adoptive parents had disowned her. She had changed her name to her pseudonym that she wrote her books under- candace Mayfair. Candace moved from Houston to the wilderness in South dakota. After two years Candace came to grips with what she now was. Candace had realized she had to isolate herself from everyone she had known in the past and did it. She settled into her new life and wrote about the subject she now knew best - werewolves. Using her former talent in writing suspense romances she wrote Arctic wolf romances. Owen got a call first thing when he was the only one in the office to find Clara/Candace  as she has a month to claim her inheritance her parents had left her who had been rich or her uncle would get it. Through an old co-worker Owen found out Clara and Candace were one and the same person. Owen shows up at Candace’s house and finds out one of the pups of his small pack had bitten and turned Candace. Candace had been dealing with this all by herself for two years. Owen offers to run as a wolf with Candace and she agrees. She actually really likes having another wolf to run with, Owen wants her to come meet his small pack - there were three  single males and a coupple with their kids/ pups that were triplets one being the one who had bitten Candace by accident. While on their run they end up rescuing two snowmobilers and the third man had filmed them by the request  one of the men they had rescued. That night someone had been snooping around Candace’s house and that had never happened before the rescue. Candace decides to pack up for a little while and go meet owen;s pack until the rescue had all blown over. Candace would stay in owen’s cabin with him since she had already met him. They packed some essentials for Candace and left the next morning for Minn.

I loved this book, it was a good, easy fun read, I loved the plot and pace. Also a little different spin on werewolves. I loved how candace didn’t have to be alone anymore unless she chose to. But even then she could always call Owen or the other members of his pack. I couldn’t find anything I didn’t like about this book. I loved how Owen took care of candace anyway that he could. I also loved owen and candace’s relationship grew over time. I loved the characters and the ins and outs and I highly recommend this book
